tkim - Yes, you must purchase the TV first at $1499. If you tell them the Fry's price when you purchase the set, then the GoodGuys will only match the $999 price. After you purchase it, you can come back to GoodGuys and ask for double the difference.

Weird, it looks like the price is good till Tuesday 2/6 here in the Bay Area. Fry's had it in the Friday ad up here, but it said "ON SALE NOW" and not $999. It seemed the printed quote was enough for the GoodGuys to honor the price guarantee.

It should be at all Fry's. I went to the Palo Alto store, and it was still tagged at $1499, but when they looked it up in the computer, it was $999.00. Riskhk, maybe the people you called didn't actually look it up?
