okay... heres what resolved all the problems... took everything apart and cleaned the dust off, replaced the wireless... sometimes... I just don't understand what fixes things

sounds almost like it could be a loose cpu cooler fan... and some safeguard shuts it down if the fan jams or the sensor is faulty... check that too... its cheaper than a mobo fix...

okay.. i tried it in a different usb port... it didn't fix it..

well... i dunno about the graphics cards, but any of them should be great... i'm running a non-oc'd gforce 5600 fx, and it runs hl2, far cry, doom3 and counter strike source at decent resolutions and framerates without any trouble... just make sure you have enough ram... i've never had any...

nevermind... i tracked down the IDE problem... the other problem it seems to be having is with the usb wireless... it there is no recognizable time pattern, but the usb wireless dongle thingy will randomly become "disconnected" from the computer, even though there is still a physical link...

okay... at the advice of a friend, i went in there with some wire, a voltmeter, and an ATX pinout chart... it appears that the volatages are fine... just being mis-read by some sensor or another... also, the IDE drives are taking an obscene amount of time to be detected at boot (obscene...

no kidding about the psu... i've had 2 cheap ones go bad on me... almost caused serious heat damage to my ram and fried one motherboard... go for the real psu

yeah... might be... it could also be a faulty motherboard sensor i think... gonna do some tests with a voltmeter later today...

okay... im running an amd athlon 2600, not overclocked at all, on an abit kv7 board 2 strips of 512 ram, with heatspreaders i've been having problems with bluescreen o death appearing randomly, error code 1003 (hardware error) seems that its a massive overheat.. the ram sticks are really hot...
