Whoa, glad I stumbled on this thread, because I'm experiencing the exact same issues! I also have two GTX 460's in SLI, running Win 7 64bit, and the issue only just started happening this week, seemingly after I updated Nvidia drivers... But I did also install some chipset drivers I hadn't...

Did a clean install this time (I know.. But have never had problems before so don't usually bother) and the kernel failing problem seems to be gone so far. Woot.

Thanks. And it's not just games. Just general computer usage. Browsing the net, not even flash content related. Will just happen seemingly out of nowhere. Typing a text on Facebook for example, randomly black screen sometimes.

I'm getting (seemingly) random kernel failure on these new drivers. Screen goes black, then comes back on and gives the message about failed kernel. Running dual MSI 1GB GTX 460's.

460's run at nice temp if you get a good brand that has a good cooling system. Like MSI's Twin Frozr II's. Their 460's are cooled very well and can achieve a pretty good stable overclock even.

The Gigabyte one is the best one available currently. It's not hard to overclock it yourself, no point in paying that overclocked premium.

For those who don't use Nvidia drivers or would rather not go through the hassle of downloading them and installing. <_<

Arctic Silver 5 is one of the cheapest and one of the best thermal pastes you can get.

It's not listed, but it still works. Most people who buy the UD3R and similar boards buy 1600 with it.
