yes, np = non pro there seems to be plenty of 9800 pros around as you have found but all with tasty price tag to go with them. the 9800 non pro I understand, at least from some of the examples in USD, has a similar price (and performance) to the 9700pro its just finding one thats the prob :/

Im kinda itching to get a card so I have been thinking along the same lines, the 9700pro is no slouch, so I wont be gettin a dud. I guess you can always wait for the next best thing, or in my case, for the next best thing to knock down the price of the current best thing ;) thanks K

I guess you have tried clearing the mobo (popped out battery or jumped jumper : ) ) Ideally you would need to try it in a friends machine as I am guessing you dont have a spare. Mobo will not boot without a cpu so I really can't think of any other way of testing it for sure. K
