if its for your sister she probably just wants something cute, get her an ibook or one of those little white averatecs...nether has amazing performance but she'll get way more excited than if you showed her how fast it was.
I just bought an asus w3v for graphics work. Powerful thin and light, plus i neededsomething that could handle 3-d work so anything with integrated graphics was out for me.
i'd watch the compaq, it seems nice up front but none of the components are well matched and together they'll slow the system down. They put slow ram in it and theres no dedicated vram.
unless you need lots of graphics i'd go with a fujitsu, for small and light they really can't be beat, you may even manage to get a larger screen and stay really light
I'm an architecture major still in school and use the computer a lot and may have some good input. i also am a graphic design professional and do a large amount of freelance graphics work. For a student who will be using a sudio a lot, weight and size are prime concerns. it just gets old...
