    ººººº--§§§§§§§--The Freebies thread--§§§§§§§--ººººº Part 0b110 (six).

I've got a ton of computer equipment I'm looking to get rid of, at this point I do not even care about the money. I had much more but these are the items that are left. I am not parting any of this out, you take all or nothing. If nobody takes this in the next two weeks, it is going in the...

    Apartment complex troubles... any advice?

Basically, yeah... I know a lot of people who have lived there but haven't talked to any of them about move-out charges yet. My question isn't so much "Is my apartment complex trying to screw me" (to which the answer is yes) but "How can I effectively dispute it, especially so they don't put...

    Apartment complex troubles... any advice?

They never collected a security deposit on this place. When I turned my keys in I asked to do an in-person inspection with them and they said "We don't do those". Later today I am going to ask them myself if they have the invoice, but I'm not all that sure they do according to my roommate.

    Apartment complex troubles... any advice?

So I recently moved out of my college apartment, and I get a bill in the mail a few weeks later for a $338 carpet replacement in the common area (my roommates received the same bill). The carpet was fine when we moved out, certainly nothing to warrant a replacement. I talked on the phone with...

YAMP3PT: Yet another MP3 Player thread...

Not too much around when it comes to FLAC. Here is a list of all the players reviewed on CNET (i.e. everything) that play FLAC, not much choice. http://reviews.cnet.com/4566-6490_7-0.h...er=501502_8128092_&sort=edRating7+desc Honestly, the quality of 320kbps MP3 is going to be way more than...

    College

You don't have to know exactly what you want to do; most people really don't, and most people end up holding a variety of jobs throughout their career. What you need to ask yourself is, what are your skills, what are you interested in, and what field of education would best help you in teaching...

    College

Smarter? No. Being smart is a natural quality that some people have more than others. You can't learn how to be smart. You can, however, learn things to demonstrate and apply your mental aptitude in such a way that will get you a high-paying job with many specialized skills, so that you don't...

    Vending machines

Heh, the ones on campus take these special cards which you load up with money. I spend so fscking much on vending machines.

    College

I'm with BigJ. Here's a bright idea: Figure out what you want to do, then spend money and time on a degree. Get a degree that you can get a job with, too. Programming and chemistry are both good, but some of these music and arts majors ramble on all day about how they want to "do what they love"...

Do you believe its OK to spank your kids??

My parents never spanked me and I think I turned out all right. Definitely wasn't spoiled (but not deprived either). I had a bit of a rebellious stage, but what kid hasn't, I never did anything really bad. I don't think spanking should be illegal or anything like that, I just don't think it's...

A man's home is his castle... with pic

I guess the Chinese have learned a thing or two about capitalism!!! More power to him, I say. Bottom line is that eventually one of them is going to give in and it will probably be the company.

Pay off credit cards, or downpayment on a home?

PAY YOUR CREDIT CARDS. Even if it means putting off your house purchase. You're not going to get much of a good interest rate if you have $15K in credit card debt hanging over your head, and you'll still be stuck paying interest on those CCs (even if it's less). Not to mention that you could pay...

Career Advice: Don't spend half your work day on facebook

Oxford Alumni, huh? I like how he's putting such an honorable education to good use.
