Building PC's with any type of IDE drive is a cinch right? As long as your firmware supports the size of the drive and the MB accepts the connector you're golden. Switch to SCSI and it's a whole new mess. A SUN Ultra 30 workstation was recently donated to me in the hopes that I could use it...
The problem is that I need to be able to do this every hour twice an hour (24/7) so I can't just look at one particular date or hour as it has to keep happening.
I need to know if anyone can assist me on how to grab the last (we'll just say "x" minutes) of a log file. How do you tell the grep command without specifying an exact window of time? (So relative instead of absolute.)
The log format looks like this:
03-05-2008 09:33:34 blah blah blah...
I just tried running at 4-4-4-12 2.1V and still no good. It's the strangest thing I have ever seen. It gets to XP fine but just as soon as it goes to bring up the display you hear a click in the hard drive (that's normally indicative of the same sound you would hear when it reboots) and then...
This may seem like a strange place to be posting this but I am convinced there is something up with the system board. So first, my spread:
Hiper modular 580W PSU (2 +12V rails #1@20A #2@18A)
MSI K9A Platinum system board
AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800 am2
2 GB (2@1 GB sticks) Kingston Hyper X
MSI...
I recently decided to build a new system that was quite an upgrade from my last and one of the things that changed was the fact that I went from a familiar and steady NVidia AGP platform to an unfamiliar and apparently unsteady ATI PCI-e platform (the wave of the future, yeah right!) Anyway so...
OK, no problem but one other question as I began thinking about this this morning and had forgotten about it last night. Please bear with me as I am a "noob" when it comes to PCI-e. I'm running this card on an Asus K9N Platinum and noticed that in addition to the 6-pin power connector on the...
I am sure this has come up in the past but I am going to ask again for my own sanity's sake simply becaukkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkse I am not sure where to find it. I recently upgraded and installed a new GeCube 1950PO 256MB PCI-E loaded up the Catalyst driivers, bounced the system and now as soon as I...
I am looking to purchase a new PSU and have been eyeing the Hiper brand pretty closely. They've got some really nice looking units and they're not that pricey. However I am trying too understand which is a better rating to have: "Dual + 12V" or "4 x 12V independent rails". I am guessing that...
Hi,
I have been looking to pick up some new performance RAM but am afraid to drop $300+ on something that the MB may not be able to use/recognize. I have already had really bad luck with some Asus boards where if you put any memory in except for what's on Asus' qualified vendor list it...
I am looking to put together a new system and want to purchase 2GB of the best memory you guys think money can buy. The ones that I have narrowed my choices down to are:
Buffalo Firestix
Corsair XMS
Crucial Ballistix
Kingston HyperX
I just gave an Athlon 3200XP with 1GB of the HyperX...
I am curious if I can get some opinions on a system I am planning on putting together. I know that I need to upgrade my entire box so after doing some looking around this is what I have come up with. Please let me know what you think of what I am planning and if you have any suggestions on...
Ya but I mean something that actually resides within windows. What I am looking for is a utility that will actually monitor the usage of the PS so I know whether or not I am using too much and will also let me know if the quality of the power coming from the PS is bad.
Is there anything out...
Does anyone know if there are any good utilities for measuring how much juice you PS is putting out at a given time and what kind of condition the power is? I have been looking around but so far have been unable to find anything.
Thanks.
I know. I know. I am stupid and have never really spent a lot of time trying to understand this so please forgive my ignorance. I have looking to buy a new card and have been comparing quite a few (I need to stick with AGP for at least one more year). I have always liked NVidia cards more...
