Basically, what the title says. Latest BIOS, latest drivers. I only get audio out of the standard jack. SoundMax software is less than helpful, and their website is a joke. I setup for quad or 5.1 setup, but it doesn't work. Nothing that Soundmax provides (which isn't much) isn't helpful at all...

New info - The AD1980 SoundMax driver is compatible with Win98SE, but not Win98 it said. I need to get something that works for FE.

Trying to enable my onboard audio with initial install. When I was loading all the drivers with the CD, it said my OS would not work. That can't be right, even Win98 would support SOME kind of audio. And of course ASUS doesn't provide much help when down.

I had this error when I had an old setup, so I know it's not the new system. Win98 has refused to see any USB devices, and I have perpetual device errors in device manager. I actually got a Powercolor 9600XT for $20 more, because they were OOS on the 9600 Pro. Half-Life2 for free is pretty cool, even though I don't know what Half Life is, besides a game. ;)

The various reviews have it performing well. It may not be an actual ATI card, but if it does what I need it to, we'll be ok.

There is a Powercolor 9600 Pro (400/600) locally that I was going to pick up today. It is more than what my budget said, but I talked him into just sending me what he was going to pay for a 9600EZ ($130) and I'm paying the difference for this one, unless someone says stay away. It's gotten good...
