Thanks. These problems occur even on a fresh installation of the operating system, and even happen in BIOS and in a boot into DOS, without using Windows, so I think it is going to be fairly hard to resolve.

Thermalrights website DID list this as compatible. Now it seems they have removed it. I have this motherboard and the XP-120. I can fit the heatsink on the motherboard by installing the heatsink first, then sliding the memory in afterwards. Note that the heat pipes will have to face downwards...
