good point
for the sake of argument (and since we may only be living here for a year), will the extra room's termination points cause the sort of interference I'm talking about...to the point where I'd notice a problem?
i set out to change as little as possible in case we left and i had to...
I recently moved into a new house that had an existing phone patch panel yet had cat5e throughout the walls, terminating in rj11 phone keystone jacks. The 8 conductors were spread across two phone lines at each jack.
Since I don't have a phone line, and was interested in networking two rooms...
You know what...I didn't. However I checked Device Manager and see ICH9 entries in there, and I have my DVD burner + other SATA devices in AHCI mode. Should that not be enough?
I know I had to do all of that in XP manually, but I don't believe I had to when I was running the Windows 7 RC Beta.
It is. Just tried that.
There's one "Unknown PCI Device" in my Device Manager...is there some device that I have to have working before Hibernate will work? I keep wracking my brain but I can't think of what I haven't installed a driver for yet...
Since my reformat and reinstall of WIndows 7 the other day, I cannot hibernate. I have re-enabled it by disabling Hybrid Sleep, but whenever I click on the Hibernate button from the Start Menu, the screen fades and I end up at the Switch Users screen....
The only thing I've done differently...
the only other flaw that could i see is that i have more faith in the wd drive than the seagate. i toyed with the idea of just getting a new, larger hdd :)

Oops. My bad. I set out writing this post with the intention of putting the words "real world" in there (no joke). I didn't realize I didn't put them in there :)

So right now I have the 640GB multibooting a few OSs, and the...
Hey All,
I wanna build an htpc with a bd-rom drive, but all of the cases that seem to fit the bill will only take a slim optical drive. A fullsized drive could cost $65 these days, but a slim one costs significantly more. The ideal image in my mind is something the size of say, a mac mini...
Thanks for the reading. Didn't quite resolve em :(
I just got it again and after this time, I got a "Windows Recovered From a Serious Error" for the first time. If I click details, I get this:

Just noticed some differences in the voltages/timing reported by CPUz with my current BIOS setup (everything set to default).

If G.Skill says to go to 2.0-2.1v (the only glaring difference in the #s that I currently have), what should I start at? 2.0V and see if the problem...
8E Stop Error
Got a hit! Finally. Took about 30 minutes of clicking and wandering around folders till i got the error. Happened when I was using Calculator...sounds more and more like a memory thing. Weird tho..I don't understand how I could use Ubuntu & XP so flawlessly if it were a memory...
