yeah i tried it with the HD unplugged and it went further. does this mean my hard drive is dead?

I have done that...it's primary and HD is secondary. but when I hit the button on the keyboard to boot from disk the screen just goes blank and nothing comes up

Ok nevermind that part, I found the place in the BIOS to allow USB keyboards...but now, when I press a key the screen just goes black and no windows setup page comes up. What is going on?

Hey guys, I don't really know anything about building laptops. I have built a desktop, but I was wondering if it is any more difficult or tricky to build a laptop. Is it basically the same idea? Case...motherboard...everything else...? soo, yeah, some tips would be helpful. thanks
