P5Q Deluxe - No hard drive found. Asus says....

I can't get the motherboard to recognize my hard drive. During start up it says "no hard drive found" The bios recognizes it only as a SATA device not a hard drive. The Vista OS will run but it is as though it was on an external hard drive. Asus says the mother board is bad, any other thoughts?

    If I have to...

Over the past few months I did two builds for myself. I use both daily. One is a Asus P5Q Deluxe and the other is a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R. Both are very good boards. That being said I would definitely recommend the GIGABYTE over the Asus. Not only is the GIGABYTE superior it is also a lot less...

Gigabyte EP45-UD3R Setting speed & Timing

This boards Bios has advanced setting beyond my ability. I would like to change the DDR2 speed to 1066 and the timing to 7-7-7-20. I can navigate through the entire Bios however, I'm afraid to try changes I'm not sure of. Other than changing the DDR2 voltage to 2.0v I'm lost.

    Upgrade CPU P4 3.2

Thanks for the great suggestions. Could you tell me if a regular size ATX board will fit or must it be a micro ATX?

    Upgrade CPU P4 3.2

Do you know if the mobo in a Dell Dem. 8400 is upgradeable? If so could you recommend one? Also if I'm going to upgrade the mobo I can get an Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Wolfdale 2.8 GHz for the same price as E4700

    Upgrade CPU P4 3.2

I have a Dell Dimension 8400. It has a Pentium 4 540J 3.2 mhz socket 775 Prescott processor. The mother board is a Dell with an Intel Alderwood i925X chipset Southbridge 82801. I would like to know if I could upgrade to a Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.6 ghz CPU. If that would work how much higher...

P5Q Deluxe - PC Probe II Fan & Power 0 RPM

Your question gave me the answer. I disconnected the molex ends and found the fan power connections on the MB. Now that the MB is controlling the fan speed, my system is very quiet. Now temp. controlled rather than always at 100%. Thank you very much. jmt

P5Q Deluxe - PC Probe II Fan & Power 0 RPM

They end in a molex. The wire from the fans ends with a small plug that the molex plugs into and then the molex into the power. I can remove the molex ends and then the fans will end with the small plug. Would the small plug then go into the MB?

P5Q Deluxe - PC Probe II Fan & Power 0 RPM

Hi Larry, Yes I did locate those settings in the bios. My problem is that I have those (1 power & 3 case) fans running directly from my power supply to the fans. I believe I should power them off the motherboard to get that control. Hopefully someone may know how that's done.

P5Q Deluxe - PC Probe II Fan & Power 0 RPM

I installed the PC Probe II program however, my power fan & chassis fan 1,2&3 show 0 RPM. I know they must be tied into the motherboard. How is this done. Also my CPU temp. shows 35c and my MB temp is 43c. Shouldn't the CPU always be hotter than the motherboard?

    PQ5 Deluxe-Fantom flopy drive

Tom, I did not and I will do that. If I later add a floppy drive will it show-up or will I have to go back into the bios and turn it on ?
