Gigabyte GeForce 6800 vanilla and Dell 2005FPW - no go?

I have the Dell 2005FPW running on a Dell XPS Gen 4 with the Nvidia 6800 256mb video card. The 6800 supports the monitor at 1680 X 1050 just fine.

Please recommend good Backup Software for XP!

Drive Image 7.0 is well worth the money. It images your hard drive from within Windows without having to reboot. The software CD is also an XP boot CD that loads a small version of XP with network drivers and USB drivers so you can repair your drive by recovering an image from another drive, be...

    Multi-Format DVD Recorders

Add the LG GSA-4040B to the list. Not only supports -R/+R and -RW/+RW, but supports DVD-RAM as well. It's the only drive currently available that supports all five DVD write formats.

Aero 7+ (Jus thought I'd mention..)

I previously had a Evercool solid copper HS with Evercool 70mm fan on an AMD 2500+ Barton at stock speed. That setup ran at less than 32db with the 70mm fan that came with it. By using a Zalman fan controller, I was able to get it down to around 28db (almost silent), with CPU temps that ran...

    Audigy2 firewire issue

Here's a link to a page with all the pinouts for the Audigy cards, including the internal firewire connector: http://dmzweb4.europe.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=27,E=0000000000024081212,K=6896,Sxi=8,Case=obj(15530),VARSET=centric:280,Kb=creative_cli_en I got this same info from...

    Best Monitor for $270?

I've got a NEC 97F 19" I bought from Staples for $269. Excellent text and graphics quality, good geometry. Just stay away from Envision - I had a 985E that I couldn't get the geometry right no matter what I tried. I exchanged it for the NEC.

    USB2 Problem

I've got the Canon scanner model just under yours, and I have no problems with the scanner drivers (same as yours) and the VIA implementation of USB 2.0. The fact that it was seen before you loaded the USB 2.0 drivers seems to indicate that the scanner was found using USB 1.1 support, but not...

I'm sure this is a dumb question re: GF4 TI4200...

MSI does indeed make GeForce4 Ti4200 video cards with video in. The closest model number I could find close to the 8889 on their web site is the 8884, which does have video in and video out capabilities. Perhaps the 8889 is an OEM only model. Whatever the case, I'm sure the video card in that...

What brand/model of GeForce 4 Ti 4200 should I get?

I have to agree with Schadenfroh on the Asus cards: I just got the Asus V9280 TD 8X AGP about a week ago, and it is a great card with a great software bundle. Also, the Reader's Choice Awards 2002 at Tom's Hardware selected an Asus GeForce4 Ti4200 series as the best mainstream graphics card, and...

    USB2 Problem

I had a similar problem with a USB 2.0 card, though not from the same manufacturer: when I installed the USB 2.0 drivers that came with the card, neither my Canon scanner nor my HP printer were recognized. After removing the drivers that came with the USB 2.0 card, I let XP install the native...

Which position is better for fans? In or Out?

2 output, 1 intake is the preferred fan setup. This gives your case negative air pressure, which is better at removing heat from the case.

    Barton 2500+ and cooling...??

My 2500+ Barton runs about 7 degrees C cooler than my older 1800+ Palomino on the same heatsink/fan combo (39C under load vice 46C on an Evercool CU 725). There were no other changes in the system to account for the difference in temps, so I have to assume that either the Barton runs cooler, or...

Anyone ever hear of Envision monitors?

I bought a Envision EN-985e from Staples, and returned it the next day. I could never get the screen geometry correct - the top corners would curve down, and the bottom corners would curve up. I exchanged it for a NEC 97F, which was $50 more ($249 total). The NEC has been flawless in geometry...
