    Barton Compatability / Questions

I know the EPoX 8K3A+ supports Bartons with the latest BIOS version... so there is a good chance that your 8K5A2+ may... check sites like AOA Forums or forum at AMDMB, as they usually have the very latest BIOS versions. Also, the 8K5A2+ does support "333mHz" CPU speeds (166mHz and higher bus...

    8K3A+ and Barton 2500

I have an 8K3A+ rev 1.2 mobo, flashed to latest BIOS. Just got a Barton 2500 (AXDA2500KV4D, AQXEA0330XPMW, 9785037280024). Haven't installed it yet (saving for this weekend). I know default multiplier for the Barton 2500 is 11.0 (x 166.67). Without any CPU mods, can I change the Barton's CPU...

Possible to customize NTFS cluster size during OS install

I tried Powerquest's Partition Magic 7.0 (got an eval D/L as PM6.0 license holder). As best as I can determine, its boot disk will let me custom size FAT32 clusters BUT not NTFS clusters. Doesn't look like this will do the trick. Thanks anyway for the suggestion. jmichna

Possible to customize NTFS cluster size during OS install

Not interested in compression. No other features are lost; slack is a bit worse, though. Performance of hard drives with RAID-0 array improves for the file sizes I work with at 16k cluster size. Rather than be told to leave things at default, I'm really trying to find a way to do what I...

Possible to customize NTFS cluster size during OS install

I'm going to be rebuilding a RAID-0 array (new mobo and other hardware) starting from scratch (clean WinXP Pro OS installation). Is it possible to create a boot floppy (possibly, but not necessarily, WinXP) that will allow me to format my RAID-0 drives using NTFS at a cluster size I select...

Is it possible... XP boot floppy to format NTFS to 16k cluster

I'm going to be rebuilding a RAID-0 array (new mobo and other hardware) starting from scratch (clean WinXP Pro OS installation). Is it possible to create a (possibly WinXP) boot floppy that will allow me to format my RAID-0 drives using NTFS at a cluster size I select? Something like: FORMAT...

Place to get AX7, SK6 and good fan.....Thanks

Check out 1CoolPC for both HS and fans. They carry both the AX7 and SK6. I own both, and for better cooling I would recommend the AX7 with the Sunon 80mm 50cfm fan. This combo out performed my SK6 with a) the 60mm Black delta 7K rpm screamer, and b) an 80mm Sunon with 60mm-->80mm funnel...

My girlfriends EX hates my choice of AMD 1800 +. What do you think?

    ThemalRight AX7 = $27, Sunon 80mm fan = $8.95, P/S... buy quality whether Intel or AMD anyway... differences between Enermax models, for example: ENERMAX EG301P-VE (FMA) 300W Power Supply for AMD K7 & Pentium4 = $49 ENERMAX EG365P-VE(FC). 350W Power supply for AMD K7 & Pentium4 = $57 ENERMAX...

    Heatsink and Case Fans

ThermalRight AX7 coupled with a good 80mm fan. I happen to use a Sunon 2900rpm/50cfm that's reasonably quiet.... MUCH more quiet than my old SK6/Black Delta 7K rpm screamer. There may be even more quiet ones. Regarding cooling ability, my TBird 1.2/200fsb OC'd to 1.4/266fsb @ 1.87 vcore puts...

what are the best 19" monitors? somebody fill me in

I had a great buying exxperience with Monitors Direct. I bought a C910 19" last year. Great monitor (color, clarity, resolution and sharpness leave nothing to be desired, and reasonable energy consumption). Price was right, well packaged for shipping, reasonable S&H charges, quick delivery...

    best heatsink?

My Happy Experience with Thermalright AX-7... I just wanted to let anyone interested in a good CPU cooler know about the Thermalright AX-7. I just installed that puppy a few hours ago (Thursday, 4/11) and it does a really good job. My pc is a T-Bird 1.2gHz/200 mHz fsb OC'd to 1.4gHz/266mHz...

    XP2100+ and A7V133 bios1008???

All, Wondering if anyone has installed an XP2100+ on an Asus A7V133 mobo? The board's cpu multiplier only goes to 12.5X (dip switches) which would give me XP2000+ speed (1667mHz) but the Asus tech paper says that the A7V133 is "compatible" with the XP2100+ when flashed to BIOS 1008 or later...
