    4890 vs. 4770 Crossfire

Thanks guys, I think I was getting too caught up in having the newest, hottest, thing. Form before function, you know? Not that the 4890 is old news, it's been out for what? 3 weeks? I think you've pushed me back to the original thought of a single 4890 (or possibly bumping my budget for...

    4890 vs. 4770 Crossfire

I'm still undecided on the GPU for my new build. I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two. I realize that the logical thing is to buy the 4890 and add a second later if/when I need to. The problem is that I don't think I'll be upgrading for a while so the system I build will probably be...

    For Gaming at 1080p

The EVGA GTX260 216 I linked is now down to $159.99 after rebate. I'm not sure I can pass up a pair of those for $320.

How about EVGA 260 216 SLI with the hopes that they drop the price of the 275 within the next 90 days so I could step up at a minimal cost? Do they let you step up two cards at once? I know I'll need to get sneaky just to get the two mail in rebates.

    For Gaming at 1080p

Thanks for the replies guys... The benchmarks I've seen have the GTX260 216 SLI above the 4870 crossfire in nearly all cases so I think it's going to come down to GTX260 216 SLI or (stretching my budget by $90) 4890 crossfire.

    Budget is ~$350 USD. i7 920 @ 3.33ghz. Corsair 850w PSU. No current video card to upgrade from. Which would you choose and why? ATI: HIS 4850 1GB (x2) $154.99 x 2 = $309.98 Sapphire 4870 1GB (x2) $179.99 x 2 = $359.98 (after MIR) Sapphire 4850x2 2GB $264.99 (after MIR) XFX 4890...

    Wireless PCI Card Quality

Hello, I'm in need of a PCI wireless NIC card and am wondering what the difference is between... ...the $12.99 version: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16833340009 and the $39.99 version: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16833122119 There are of course several...

    ATI Selection Help

I forgot that you only get access to the vram on one of the two crossfired cards. The link that way2fast91 provided is a 2GB 4850x2 so that would be the dual GPU set-up I would consider at this point.

    ATI Selection Help

Thanks guys... Not sure how I missed the 2GB 4850x2. $30 for twice the ram? Sounds like a deal. I do like the simplicity of the 4890, I'm just not sure I can pass up the performance gain of the 4850x2. Still have lots to think about...

    ATI Selection Help

Hey guys, I'm currently building an i7 rig and was settled on a single 4890 with intent to add a second once the prices drop to ~$150 USD. I then began to consider crossfiring lesser cards from the beginning. This system will be mostly used for work (read: non-GPU intensive applications) but my...

    MSI x58

Thanks for the replies everyone. After doing a little more research, it seems the reviews are 50/50 on the MSI boards. When building a $2000 system, I'm not sure I want to take 50/50 risk on such an important component. I still may ultimately go with an MSI but now I'm also considering the...

    MSI x58

I'm in the process of building an i7 rig. I need help deciding between the MSI Pro and the MSI Platinum SLI. I am planning on running crossfire but have no intention of using the SLI. Is there another difference between these two boards that should push me to spend the extra $40 on the platinum...
