I am struggling to find a system that doesn't heat up so much. I am not an overclocker. I currently have a athlon xp 2200+ on a Gigabyte 7AXP mobo. Large antec case with enermax 450v power supply and two 120mm fans (front and back). My CPU quickly rises to 65C with virtually no activity...
Why is it that brand desktops are so much quieter than home built? Do the brand names simply ignore the heat issues? I have a xp2100+ system on a Giga-byte GA7AXP that I recently put together and became concerned with the heat generated in the case-I have two cheetah hard drives. I used a...
I am pleased to announce that replacing the retail AMD heatskink with an Antec one, flipping my enermax PSU around (so the psu fan points down towards the cpu) and modifying the case to accept it that way, has reduced my system and cpu temps by 25C!!!
The Skyhawk Jupiter does not have the option to flip around the PSU case. It took me 10 minutes to measure out and drill new holes into the case to mount it with the fan side down. My system temps dropped dramatically. If you mount the PSU so the fan points up, then not only are you missing...
If ya find out, let me know. I have a skyhawk and an enermax whisper- and yes, the holes are configured so the power supply mounts the wrong way. I thave thought about drilling holes in the aluminium and mounting the ps slightly off-center from the cut-out. There does not appear to be a way to...
It's my wife. She hates the look of the computer, the stereo equipment, the home entertainment center-anything that you can't put window treatments on...
Well the fan works... Now I've got readings similar to the open case -open air readings from before. Only problem is I gotta wear seatbelts to keep from getting sucked into the hutch. Cpu temp is 66. Should I replace the heatsink? Also, where can I get those nifty orange ear protectors those...
I just picked up a huge DataTel 115V fan meant for cooling down rack audio equipment (a veritable wind storm). I'll drill a hole in the back of the hutch and pace the fan there. Should I have the fan draw out the heat or blow fresh air into the hutch thereby displacing the heat?
When I installed the retail amd heatsink - and it was a bitch- I was careful to match the groove on the base of the heatsink with the ridge on the chip socket. I did not use thermal paste, just the pad that comes with the heatsink, and I did scratch it slightly-tiny hole, while struggling to...
Gigabyte 7VAXP MOBO. And no my room is not hot. I do have the case sitting in an office hutch that appears to be well ventilated. If I pull the case out of the hutch I get CPU temps of 67-68 and case temp of 45. My case also contains two cheetah scsi hard drives in additon to a WD eide...
Yeah, I know about the case fans. Just got a brand new Skyhawk Aluminium Case (jupiter Model)- and the front panel has no air intake-a fan sits their behind the lower drive bays but there just isn't any visible openings in the panel. Does this mean I'm screwed?
I'm not overclocking at all. By the way the system temp is around 52C. I've got a case fan blowing down on the HS fan-could this be part of the problem? If I want the fan to extract air rather than bring it in how do I reverse flow?
