i reformatted today expecting the problem to go away, but it persisted. using the mouse now on a laptop, but on my desktop it doesnt work. No clue whhat to do.

In device manager under mice it shows the 518 connecting and reconnecting.

tried all usb ports. the ball mouse that works is also usb. Tried usb to ps2 adapter and still does not work.
