    Think I will try the 64 bit version. I applied w2003 SP1 and it failed, rolled back but then wouldn't boot. Tried a clean secondary install, and applied SP1, same result, broke at a different place but at least it rebooted. On rebooting it runs CHKDSK, and then reboots again. Not sure why it's...

    Yup, same problem. The common thread appears to be the Athlon 64 processor, mine is 3000+ Failed on first attempt, working server, domain controller, Oracle server etc..., all my stuff installed. It attempted to roll back, and failed. Wouldn't reboot, couldn't find ... Tried again... same...
