I've applied the AS 5 twice - better results the second time around. I followed the directons to a tee - small amount (size of a piece of rice) in the middle, it didnt say to spread it either.
:)
The HS def feels warm, I wouldn't say hot - I touched it w/out burning myself. I've done some reading on flashing the BIOS but I can't do that without some kind of O/S right????
How can I tell how it's throttling w/out an O/S?
The heat sink is level and secure and the temp stops rising, so it's possible that the sensor was slightly damaged?
Well..............I know now WHY my temps were sooo high!!!!
It's kind of stupid actually.
After much searching and reading I decided to go back to the manufacturer's websites and see if there was anything I missed. I went to the MoBo site and looked up my model and what processors they...
Maybe I should have said this already but.... there is no O/S, and I, myself don't intend on installing one. This is for my brother in England (overseas), and he wants to put in his own O/S.
Is there anything else I can do do check it? Is there anyway to actually speed up (or slow down) a...
I think it might be possible that I damaged a temp sensor during my first few boots when it would shut down after 15 secs. That's the reason I went with the AS 5.
Today I removed, re-cleaned and re-seated the HS and CPU. I booted it up and ran it for a while - the temps are still a little...
I booted up the computer for the first time, set up the bios. Now looking at the temperatures they look to high. The CPU is running at a temp of 87c and the system is reading at 37c. Applied Artic Silver 5 compound to the cpu. It would shut it self off before I removed the thermal pad, and I...
# Check Flash BIOS Jumper: If your system has a jumper to enable the flash BIOS feature, check it to make sure that it is disabled. This should be the default.
# Check CMOS Clear Jumper: Some systems have a jumper that will let you clear the contents of the CMOS memory, something that is needed...

Sweetness - thanks for taking the time and really looking into my problem;) !!! I've gone thru the mobo manual and placed everything else that it calls for. I'm gonna do some searching on this speaker thing too. I just have to wait for the paste to come in and do it up!!
:D
Is that what that is? A loudspeaker? Where am I supposed to connect it?!? The mobo manual doesn't say anything about it.
As far as reading up or being tutored on this - all I've been doing for the past few weeks is reading and researching. When I get to something that stumps me I get...
"I looked at the motherboard it does not have a header on Panel 11 for PC speaker only HDD light and ATX Switch".
That is what you said.
I read it wrong - so ignore what I asked about that.
The speaker is small and round on the top with red and black wires going to a 4 hole plug - I put that on panel 21-SPDIFO1. As for the HDD light, that is on Panel 1(HD LED +/-). Is the ATX switch differ from the ATX 20 pin & 4 pin + 12V power connector?
The processor:
Intel® Pentium® 4...
