    retro gaming: RGB vs NTSC

    I'm just curious why you'd want to run a scanline generator...I don't miss scanlines...do you? :)

also, a lot of people like me refer to RF as coax...and vice versa because the RF adapters had that coax looking cable with the single pin and the metal housing you'd screw onto the back of your old TV.

Oh and I run at 4:3..I think. I 'd have to go into my settings and see which ones I use. My TV offers a game setting and I hadn't ever really thought much about what the aspect ratio of that setting would be. I can cycle through a few..I definitely do not like playing games in the distorted...

    retro gaming: RGB vs NTSC

The only way to see the difference is to see it i person..you went into further details about the variables that I merely touched on. That said, I don't imagine any Plasma or any HDTV is going to have the resolution that a CRT monitor is going to have...they just won't. It would be too costly...

Also in case anyone else is wondering, the gamecube, xbox, wii, dreamcast, ps1 and ps2 can all output RGB, component video, s video or composite.

    retro gaming: RGB vs NTSC

Overall, the point is to get the cleanest signal possible. Now if that is one of those old CRT Sony's , great. But how many of those are laying around? How big are they? But for example Sega Genesis images can be output at 256 pixels (32 tiles) or 320 pixels (40 tiles) across and 224 scanlines...

    retro gaming: RGB vs NTSC

I look at anything older than PS2 as classic, now . :) I'll see if I can find some old posts of mine from another forum. Because it was 2 years ago when I first really investigated all of this stuff and found out about SCART and the converter boxes. Obviously, people before me figured this out...

    Retro gaming

Dude I am the biggest retro fan... I've got: Sega Master Sega Genesis Sega CDX Sega Saturn Sega Dreamcast NES N-64 GameCube 3D0 PS1 PS2 (not a retro, I realize..but its been out a long time.) Most of my collection is 32 bit and up. I can barely get into the 16 bit stuff..just doesn't do it...

Biggest Disappointment games of all time...

Q3 was a big disappointment for me. Once they brought in the jump-pad and made the railgun a 2 shots-to-kill-weapon, I was irritated with the series. No single player...the graphics somehow looked worse to me. Not sure why.. Loved me some grappling..didn't they take that away in Q3/4? I could...

The only one I have played out of that list other than REvil, was Myst and that game was pretty sweet. But its all about personal preference I suppose..

What were some of the finest hours you've had with a game?

I don't have any of the old screens anymore, but I used to love me some Quake 2 CTF baby! Counterstrike was a fav too. Consoles are fun and I enjoy them, but nothing beats playing on the PC.

Just in time for the price cut - PS3 being sold

There are always good and fun games to play...especially on the PC. I've got at least 10 I haven't even touched yet because I'm working on other ones.. do a 'best of year xyz' sweep. I played the heck out of hitman 1, 2 and 3 recently those were awesome.

You really don't need a monitor to enjoy the SCART. Just get a converter box. I think when I get a bit more time I can take some pics or if I get really adventurous I'll even do a youtube video or something.

    retro gaming: RGB vs NTSC

For anyone needing help with this, I spent a LOT of time researching SCART and what not. If you are in the USA, you need to buy SCART cables for your system..most likely you will need to buy them from Europe. You will also need a SCART to YUV/YUB converter box. Basically, Your SCART goes from...
