    OpenGL and Direct3D

For Windows, DirectX is definitely better. For Linux (which doesn't support DirectX) your only choice is OpenGL. Microsoft's been throwing a lota money into DirectX while OpenGL hasn't really changed much in the last few years. DirectX has more features, support's a lot of the latest stuff, etc.

The difference between WIN ME and WIN XP

    True story: Win9x: crash/freeze 10 times a day. WinXP: crash/freeze 0 times a month.

Upgrade to XP or not? Is it worth the hassle??

Upgrade when Win98 starts crashing too much. I upgraded to XP because the Win98 I had crashed at least 6 times a day and frequently froze while booting (and this is after reinstalling less than 2 months ago). I didn't like the compatibility of XP but it was better than booting 12 times a day...

Incrementing network connection # and hidden network cards

I'm currently using WinXP. Has anyone had the problem of the Network Connections gradually incrementing number? (ex. "Local Area Connection 4"). There is still only one connection displayed for LAN connections but the number following the words "Local Area Connection" spontaneously increments...

One way file access between XP & win98 (not the password dialog problem)

I just installed XP on my machine and the new installation can access the files on all of my other Win98 comps fine. But when I try to access my XP machine from a win98 computer, I get the message "\\XPCOMP is not accessible. Unknown error 31." I can't even see the shares on my comp. Before...

    Printer memory question

don't think so. I think all extra mem does is increase the complexity of the things you can print. I had an old laser printer that only printed half of a picture sometimes because it didn't have enough ram. I think that only things that limits print speed is parallel port speed and the physical...

Isn't 5ns faster than 5.5ns? (Leadtek apparently doesn't think so)

Leadtek really shouldn't be advertising the card as "enhanced" and especially not as a Pro card. The only difference between GTS and PRO is that PRO has faster mem. If their "enhanced" PRO uses 5.5ns, then they would be completely lying to the consumer by calling it a...

Is there any way to install AGP card without AGP port?

is there a pci version of the card?

Is there any way to install AGP card without AGP port?

I really doubt it, I haven't heard of any such adapter. I don't think it's technically feasible. Among many other things, the clock speed of agp and pci are very different and even if you could put an agp card into a pci slot, there should be serious problems with the video drivers.

Isn't 5ns faster than 5.5ns? (Leadtek apparently doesn't think so)

Leadtek sells two versions of it's Geforce2 Pro card, one of which is the enhanced version. When I read the specs of the enhanced card, it said "The New Enhanced WinFast GeForce2 Pro 32/64MB is the only one in it's class to use 5.5ns DDR memory." That really confused me - they are...
