I've been having some trouble with upgrading my motherboard. Receiving the topic's stop code at every attempt.
Using my old motherboard (945P chipset) I uninstalled all current drivers and disk controllers in hopes I could transfer windows without a reinstall. Then I swapped the motherboard...

7600gs will treat you well. In my experience with it I've done medium settings on medium resolutions and had 40+ fps on anything from WoW, to Zero hour and Tib wars. Mind you the 7600 was paired with a P4 2.8Ghz with hyperthreading. So a pseudo-dual core and a 7600gs did just fine. A cheap...
Hello everyone, I'm looking for an audio card under $35 before shipping that will offload any or most audio processing from my CPU. As it is I'm marginally happy with my OB sound, so I'm not too finiky about sound quality.
I'm looking for some suggestions and my primary concern is simply...
If I remember correctly, the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R is quite popular right now and performs extremely well.
Though eprsonally, I've had my eye on the DFI LP UT P35 T2R
That PSU is Seasonic built you shouldn't get any trouble from it.
I also support the notion to get a SATA optical drive. Much more manageable.
Also, For a graphics card I would toss around the idea of getting the ATI 2600XT for 99.99+shipping from NewEgg. It saw performance increases...
I did build a budget system a few weeks ago, except my friend had a monitor to use.
Screenshot of components
Adding your monitor to it wouldn't push the cost too far. Keep in mind I opted out of the Pictured FSP and got a 350w Antec Basiq (FSP built) from OfficeMAX for $9.99. The system...
Disabling system services could help. At any given point I run about 26 services on 256MB of ram. When i use a machine with 512 or more I don't notice any difference personally in generally computing (Word processing, internet browsing, etc.)
K, I found about $25 in savings from those sites via gfx card, HD, and RAM. Thanks.
Side Note: I have a spare DVD burner so I don't need to buy another for the build!
Also, I found a newsletter from newegg making the 3800+ 65Wtdp cost only .50 more. Would the 3800+ OC better than the 65nm 3600+ with stock cooling?
I'm hunting down whatever deals I can find for these parts or better! So thanks for the site names dclive!
And for some reason I just can't...
I don't use Anti Virus either and have been virus free for about 1 year (I do at least use AVG and nod32 every 2 months to make sure.)
M$ released a little program to help XP shut down a bit faster:

If all you've done is replace the motherboard it might be easier to pop the old one back in, boot, change the ACPI to "Standard PC" and the Chipset drivers. Shut down, replace with new mobo, reset the ACPI and install new chipset drivers. That's always worked for me, then a quick chat with M$...
