    Is Flash Java?

Cool! I didn't know Flash had evolved so much. I still am strongly against Web sites done mostly/fully in Flash, though. Most of the tricks and effects people use with Flash for navigation bars and animation and such can be duplicated very well with modern-day DHTML using JavaScript, CSS, and...

    Is Flash Java?

Flash is completely different than Java, actually. You can do similar things with Flash and Java, but the two are very different. Also, Flash is centered around graphics/animation (I think) whereas Java is a much broader programming platform.

why dont planets form other shapes?

As other posters have said, the spherical shape is due to the force of Earth's own gravity "crushing" it into such a shape. However, as also has been noted, there is a slight bulge at the equator. This is because the Earth's fast rotation causes the slight bulge.

RichUK: Thanks for the explanation of the rails. How does one check the rails for problems?

Random sudden power off, usually during games

First, I'll answer the easy question. The power goes out completely - no fans, no nothing. 100% dead. As for the others, bear with me - when you say something is grounded to the case, does that mean there's something metal on the motherboard or one of the cards that is touching the metal of...

Random sudden power off, usually during games

Been having some problems with my PC lately. At seemingly random times, almost always while playing a game, my computer will suddenly shut off. No spontaneous reboot or error screen, the power simply cuts off. This is where it gets strange. When I press the power button to start back up...

    UPDATE: WinXP freezes resolved

It's been so long since I bought it, I'm actually not sure what kind of RAM I have. Would I be able to tell by looking at the stick of RAM itself?

Can't boot if usb port has cable connected

I have a similar annoying issue... my PC won't boot up if my iPod is connected. After it POSTs, it will just sit there with a blinking cursor. Once I unplug the 'Pod, my PC boots normally. The iPod documentation mentions that this may happen, but does not offer any sort of explanation.

    UPDATE: WinXP freezes resolved

Hi all. I posted a few messages over the past few days about my Windows XP system freezing randomly on me. After experimenting with some BIOS settings, I finally found the solution to my freezing problem. I changed the setting for my CPU FSB from 166MHz to 133 MHz. However, my CPU is an...

    Knowing the right RAM settings

Hi all, I am by no means a newbie to computers, but I have always been more knowledable on the software side than on the hardware side. I'm currently having some problems with XP locking up and I suspect it may be my RAM. I was looking at my memory settings in my BIOS, and there is a...

    WinXP - Keeps Freezing!!

I am not overclocking, no. The odd thing is, though, that everything was running perfectly and then at some point the thing started freezing up on me. I hadn't made any significant changes...

    WinXP - Keeps Freezing!!

I'll try memtest when I get home tonight. As far as the case goes, it's pretty well ventilated - I have a fan in the front bring air in, two in the back blowing air out, one on the side panel blowing air in, and one on top over the power supply.
