Did anyone play old Sierra or LucasArts games?

For my money, the best games ever were in that 1987-1993 time frame. The Quest for Glory, Monkey Island, Kings Quest, Wing Commander, etc. games were just great. Graphics are better now, but I rarely find a game I like as well as those. I even built an old Pentium 2 (had to go to Computer...

    memory timings question

I have a gigabyte ex38-dq6 motherboard and ended up with some PK series g.skill RAM. Is it still desireable to have the timings at 1:1, currently I am at 5:8, does this mean I will need to slow my FSB down to match the RAM and will it be beneficial? thanks.

Just swapped out my motherboard, but having some problems...

I'm not really sure what happened, it was working one day and then the next day it wouldn't post. I did reinstall windows and it seems to be working okay so far. Could the SATA connections have caused any problems? I installed the including chipset drivers once I got in to Windows and so far...

Just swapped out my motherboard, but having some problems...

How do I check the cpu revision? I am using the corsair modular 620 watt power supply. My mobo just crashed, not really sure why but it stopped posting so I took it as a sign to get a new one! ha! The RAM issue is a little weird, I ran memtest for a couple of hours and there were no errors, do...

Just swapped out my motherboard, but having some problems...

I'm trying to reuse the vista install. My exact materials: gigabyte ex38-dq6 gskill f2-8500cl5d-4gbpk e8400 (not sure which version, it was an OEM though). Is there no memtest on the gigabyte bios? I can't seem to find it, I want to exhaust my options before reloading vista because there...

Just swapped out my motherboard, but having some problems...

Hi all, I just installed a new motherboard, cpu, and ram. I went to a gigabyte x38 MB, an e8400, and 2x2 sticks of gskill ram. Tried to load up windows the first time and I got the BSOD, put the windows dvd in to try and repair and I got this message: startup repair cannot repair this...

    Help...power save mode!

you know what, I haven't used the CMOS clear jumper, I will go check that out. This is about a year old build and has been rock solid from day one. Parts can fail of course, worked completely fine yesterday. I'll check that jumper and report back.

    Help...power save mode!

Tried to turn on my computer tonight and on the monitor it just says "display in power save mode". I punched the keyboard, etc. After cooling down, I popped the case open, pulled out the CMOS battery for a couple minutes, unseated the video card for a couple minutes, and hooked everything back...

    Need some overclocking help...

I did do that. I feel like my biggest problem is I've actually LOST speed. CPUZ continues to say I'm at a core speed of 1600 mhz with a multiplier of 6. This is not right, this should be at 2400 mhz with a multi of 9. I checked the BIOS and it has me at a muiltiplier of 9. This is so weird..it's...

    Need some overclocking help...

Just built a 6600 with a badaxe2 mobo. Never really done any overclocking but I wanted to give it a try, so pardon the newb questions. I read through the forums and various "how to" guides and ended up with these settings: Voltages: FSB 1.4 Memory 2.2 MCH 1.6 CPU 1.45 I would adjust...
