The ASUS P2L97 features the LX-Chipset from Intel as far as I can remember. This Chipset doesn't support 100MHz front side bus, only 66MHz and then some. So, if you put in a (multiplier-locked) 350MHz P2 which has a 3,5 multiplier... you get 66*3,5 = 233MHz. Sorry pal I guess ya're outta luck...

I'm facing more or less the same problem. I got an AthlonXP1600+ which I want to use in my EPOX 8KTA3 mobo. At 10.5 x 100MHz everything works fine. But when I change the FSB setting to 133MHz I get lockups every now and then, sometimes the thing won't even POST! I figured I might...
Didn't try too hard (no watercooling-experiments yet) but I never really got my TB800 any higher than 900MHz@9x100 or 866@6.5x133. All the articles and posts I read indicated the 800 was one of the worst overclockers ever :(
So anyone who can give me back some sort of perspective? Don't wanna...
