Basically, the people using this computer keep breaking a peice of software. Not really their fault, its just that it keeps temporary files and has quite a memory for what has been done with it.
I have thus far been repairing this by periodically deleting the whole folder and copying it and...
I'm trying to run an application written a while ago which is only a single thread. This is also a program which needs an immense amount of power to run well. My colleague made the mistake of upgrading to a xeon quad core and sure enough, the program maxes out at 25% cpu speed (one core just...
My friend want to use Virtual DJ to dj a party, is there a way to use visualizers from WMP even though the audio is going to be played by this other program? I can spit out the audio to another computers mic in or something if that would help (I can imagine the quality lost wont effec tthe...
actually, its a law of thermodynamics (can't remmebr which, one of carnot's I think) that there must be waste heat in a heat engine. (basically anthing like a combustion engine or refrigerator you know, stuff we use to power our generators on average, I dunno about things that deal with atomic...
I dunno what part of, but my friends FX-53 +SK8n is toast, chips pins are all bent up (perhaps the mobo still works but just considering the thermal paste on the board I don't have much faith in it, yea I have decided that recomending he bring it to a computer shop was a bad choice)
So now...
I'm sorry I didn't respond a little more to your guys ideas, but I felt like I had such massive success that I had to share what I did end up doing.
I used this schematic:

Well, first I'll elaborate perhaps a little more on my first plan as requested.
I was going to buy some relays which would control ac voltage going to an array of outlets. These relays were going to be controlled by the parralel port, but realizing that they would probably require too much...
My current plan is to use like 8 relays to control power to 8 outlets in turn controlled by a d-type flip-flop in turn controled by the parallel port.
I wasn't sure I wanted to pull all the current to operate the relays from the parallel port is the only reason I'm using the flip-flop.
I want...
Yeah, I've seen ups deliver 3 broken cases to me (I didn't even have to open 2 of them to tell, the gaping hoel in the box kinda gave that away) at least xoxide prompty shipped me another case and in the end between the two broken cases I had one good case and one that needed a hammer and a...
Although I may be mistaken, upon reviewing the article http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v434/n7037/full/nature03575.html
the fusion reaction is infact done below room temperature being noticable actually below O degrees C.
Realizing that some may not be able to access Nature I'll paste...
Does cold fusion exist, yes, does it generate power? No.
Though a nice source of neutrons and other wierd quantum stuff the itsybitsy room temperature fusion generator needs some power to go. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7654627/
A big concern for IC's on space missions are not so much the electrical characteristics but the actual pakage chracteristics. The darastic lower pressure and high heat upon reentry (takeoff too?) means that imperfections can prove disaterouse. Air bubbles etc can literally tear the thing apart...
