The reason I chose a 128GB total testing size
(sysbench fileio --file-total-size=128G prepare) was that the many temporary files it created added up to 128 GB which is twice the size of my RAM. This should...
Thanks. But I don't think it is a heat issue. The motherboard has a heat-sink that fits over the top of the NVMe SSD ... but just to make sure I have had a tiny 40mm fan blowing directly on the heat-sink since I built the system and for the first several months the NVMe was "fast".
My 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD has become VERY slow over the last month or two and I would really like to restore the original performance. Below I listed some some system information and benchmarks (sysbench random read/write tests followed by sysbench random read benchmarks.)
This Gentoo Linux system...
I would like to put a new build (Asus X-99A) in an old, but good, case. Will a Noctua NH-U12S at 158mm tall fit in an Antec P180 case? (I really don't want to pull apart the old build to measure until I have all the parts for the new build.)
So far, I can't come up with a good reason to change. I have never used DigitalDoc 5+ as a fan controller, just a monitoring tool. I don't want to change to the other mentioned systems because they don't have eight temperature sensors.
In my last couple of computer builds I have been using Digital Doc 5+'s eight temperature sensors (and fan sensors) to keep track of hot parts of my systems. (I have never used it fan control feature.)
Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement for Digital Doc 5+? (It is old...
In a new system I am planning to use an EVGA 680i (122-CK-NF68-A1) motherboard with a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU cooler. The question: will it fit in an Antec P182 case? Because the CPU socket is so close to the edge of the MB on the EVGA 680i, one edge of the Ultra-120 will extend...
