I need some freeware with which I can print bar codes and design labels.
The only applications that I have found have been shareware priced at plus $500 and they have had way to many settings. One application I really liked is called Label flow but it is too expensive plus have way too many...
I have a small retail establishment and now plan to set up two desktops running Windows XP in my store so my customers can go online while visiting the store.
The only access I want the users to have is to the internet. No access to the control panel, no permissions to install or uninstall...
Just wonder if there is a difference by going into bios setup and resetting all settings to factory defaults and temporary removing the CR2032 battery on the motherboard.
In my opinion they should mean more or less the same things to the computer but I recently had a problem where removing...
Ivier, I am happy that my post was helpful for you. Unfortunately, not all members take the time to post the solution to a problem when they have found it, so I had to set a good example :-) The battery was the last thing I could try before throwing the mobo out the window.
For Harvey, thank...
Thank you everyone for your help.
I have sorted out the issue now. I removed the CR2032 battery from the motherboard for a few minuts and the inserted the battery again.
After the battery re-seat the computer will now shut down as usual, instead of re-booting...
:-)
Is it still an operating system problem when it happens to:
1. A fresh installation of Windows XP (no other software is installed on the hard drive)?
2. Hard drive disconnected from the motherboard and booting from Ubuntu Live CD. Computer still restarts when shutting down Ubuntu Live?
That is number 10 in my first post. I have disabled the automatic restart on errors but no error messages, blue screen or any other information is displayed. The system shuts down like it use to do, remains turned of for approx 5 seconds and then reboots.
The computer was ordered in mid 2003. Came with win xp home pre-installed. The problem started just two days ago. It has never happened before. No software, drivers, programs or anything else except the Windows XP is installed and the system is still doing the same thing.
I will try changing...
I tried that yesterday.
I had my motherboard, cpu, psu, ram and video card plugged in...nothing more.
Connected the power cord and the machine started up without me first pressing the power button.
Thank you for your assistance this far.
I will buy a new battery for the motherboard today. Like you mentioned, a new battery is a lot cheaper fix than a new motherboard.
There are almost no power settings available (or they are fixed by default) in the bios since it is a Dell OEM bios...
My system also starts by itself when I plug in the power cord, and that is without pressing the power button first.
I have reinstalled Windows completely on another hard drive (see number 7 in my first post) so this issue is most likely not software related.
As you understand from the headline my computer reboots instead of shutting down. When I shut down from the start menu, the system actually shuts down and remains quit for approx 5 seconds and then reboots again. So the system is shut down for some seconds compared to the restart option in...
I am receiving tons of spam mails (like many other people) so I am considering a change of e-mail adress. However, I want to try some kind of anti-spam mail filter before I do this.
Therefore I wonder if you have any good suggestions about free spam fighting software, and maybe where I can...
