    msi 970a-g46 amd fx8320

It should be fine at stock settings, as peer the supported CPU list, but I wouldn't push any sort of overclock on that board. I didn't see any specific specs when I took a quick look at it, but you really need a minimum 8+2 VRM to maintain stability when overclocking these power hungry CPU's...

Samsung 840 Evo 1TB.. Should I get it?

I have the 250GB Samsung as my OS drive and a 120GB Samsung PROthat I used to have the OS on. To be honest, i don't see much real world performance difference between the two drives even with RAPID mode engaged on the EVO. Obviosuly the benchmarks favour the EVO by a wide margin but again, I...

What to do with "too much" Ram

No such thing as too much RAM with Photoshop.

    My Gigabyte experience (long?)

Any manufacturer can have similar problems. My experience with Gigabyte has been mostly positive. My secondary rig has a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev3.0 and an AMD 955 BE @ 4.1GHz with no problems for 6 months. It's been a solid rig. I have a Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H sitting in a box that the...

Worth going 790X/SB750 to 990FX/SB950 for free?

The Gigabyte board is a good piece of hardware. If you're planning an 8-core FX down the road, the VRM's could give you problems but stick with your 955 on all is good. The early revisions, i.e. 1.0 and 1.1 are most desirable My secondary rig has a 955 BE @ 4.1GHz in a 990FXA-UD3 rev 3.0. DO IT!

    Sabertooth 990FX R2 users, question

The CPU and CPU_OPT will run at full speed. Other than that you should be fine.

Finally looking for a new SSD as well

Look at the Samsung EVO 250GB. Generally, less expensive than the PRO and with RAPID mode enabled through software, it has record breaking performance. http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/uk/html/about/SSD840EVO.html

    Splinter Cell Blacklist

I run max settings with GTX 760 and overclocked fx 8350 @ 4.6GHz. Game runs at 60+ fps most of the time.

    Very bad motherboard from Gigabyte

Gigabyte changed the UEFI on the Rev 3 version of this board. The previous two revisions had appropriate power management options in the UEFI. There is a Rev 4 version of the board available now according to Gigabyte; maybe they got smart and put the power management options back. I had the...

hyper 212 evo doesnt start up till bios in boot and runs @1100 rpm

Not sure about the original Sabertooth 990FX, but R2.0 requires that the CPU fan be PWM or it will run at a constant speed. Same with the CPU_OPT header.

Evga ACX gtx760 or Asus DC2?

I have the Asus GTX 760 DC2 and the card is very quiet even at full load. It requires one 8-pin PCI-E power connector. The card appears to be a nice little overclocker as well. I haven't touched the memory, but I've got the core clock up to 1250 with no problems at all. One odd thing I...

GTX 560 SLI or GTX 760?

That is my exact thought right now only I think it will be sooner rather than later! I've had to RMA my PSU so I'm using a spare that isn't up to the task of powering an SLI rig, so I figured I try the new GTX 760 while I wait for the PSU to come back. If I don't like it, it can go...

GTX 560 SLI or GTX 760?

Hey, So if you had the choice which would you run with your FX8350 overclocked to 4.6 GHz? Obviously the 760 wins hands down when it comes to power consumption and thermal properties but what about overall performance in games? So what'll it be? 2 X GTX 560 in SLI or a single GTX 760?

    Gtx 760

Some slick detective work there. Yes, it seems odd that certain manufacturers have designed their part to accept both 8 and 6 pin at 170watt unless their card is flying higher than 170watt? Asus has proven that you only need 8pin to run it so something strange is happening...
