Thanks for all of your input... I plan to place the pagefile on the SSD and since I plan to have 6gb ram... hopefully there wont be much use of it anyways... and if it is accessed, it will be fast.
checked the airflow in your system...
ensure that all fans are clean and working...
if you have a 3rd party heatsink/fan, make sure it has not come loose...
I have a quick question...
Normally this would be an easy question as I would be using 2 traditional HDDs... but as I getting ready to build a new machine... I'm not sure how I should plan this.
I would like to buy a SSD and use it as my C drive and use a regular SATA drive as my storage...

I agree with what you said, I've priced out that with buying Vista home premium (OEM system builder) and a very decent set of components will cost around $950 and the system will easily outperform anything similiarily priced.
I had to rebuild a e-mach a few weeks ago as well for a friend... I found that getting the chipset info from the board and then getting the maufacturers drivers was the easiest approach..
I got lucky as a generic Via chipset driver set took care of the needed drivers.

I used to overclock, but haven't done so in years... so overclocking is not really an issue to consider...
I'm sorry, but maybe my hearing is not good enuf to hear anything out of the ordinary...
the second track has sounds that are similiar to a laptop hard drive doing something... but then again maybe I missed the "other" sound which you are referring to.

I'm really considering upgrading my computers (P4 3ghz 478, 2gb RAM, ati 1950gt) to something a lil more modern...
But is it still feasable to build your own computer? or just cheaper to buy a prebuilt and upgrade the video card if needed?

If you look in your wireless network settings.. there is a lil box that you can imput your favorite networks... ensure that only yours is listed and the computer will not reconnect to the neighbors if it's signal drops the connection.
