The mobile Athlon 64 and motherboards

Its actually a 59% overclock. My mobile 2800 clockspeed is 1.6GHz as its the 1MB cache version rated at 1.4V, not the 512KB 1.2V version. Howeer, its still not the max though. My board is hitting the limit. I tried 320 x 8 @ 166MHz for RAM and its not stable regardless of voltage (tried up to...

I am using MSI K8N Neo Palatinum and Zalman Cu 7000a. I have changed the original to a slightly more powerful Panaflo one.

To all MSI K8N Neo Platinum Users! I think all our complains have been read and answered. MSI has released beta 1.52 and it works like a charm!! My mobile 2800 can finally stretch its legs. No issues with clearing CMOS too.

The Abit KV8 Pro 1.1 with BIOS 1.6 supports mobile A64!! It will POST and detect correct multiplier. The voltage is wrong though. My 1.4V version is detected as 1.2V one. Didn't test anything as its not my board and I didn't have the opportunity to test longer.

Btw, I couldn't get the leatest 1.47 to work with the mobile no matter what I do. Changing multiplier won't help either. It just won't POST at all. Those using the MSI K8N Neo with mobiles, pls take note.

The mobile Athlon 64 and motherboards

!!Important!! The BIOS has problems with the mobiles!! For those who are using 1.1 and flash to 1.42, when you clear the CMOS, it will no longer POST. You have to install a desktop CPU and manually change the multiplier to a number to get it to work. If you have used this BIOS and don't have...

Overclocking has to use clockgen to go above 250. Note that .5 multipliers don't work and voltage changing don't work in clockgen also. HTT 1x and 2x don't seems to work also. Other than these issues, everything seems OK.

    Unofficial Soltek SL-K8AN2E-GR thread

Btw, the overclocking issue has to do with BIOS. Clockgen works fine at even 300MHz.

The performance doesn't work for me too. 250MHz is OK. 251MHz no go.

I have just receive my Soltek K8AN2GE-R. It will POST with the mobile A64 2800. The voltage is wrong and multiplier may be wrong. Manually select 1.4V and 8x will work. However, I have not boot into winxp yet as I am now in the office. Few problems though: 1. Vcore limited to just 1.55V, this...

If you like your mobile so much and you don't like pple saying bad things abt it, thats your problem. Not mine. I post what my experiences and what I think abt the chip, you post yours. In anyway, I was telling pple that the Epox support have replied to my mail and it doesn't support mobile...

Get the desktop. I tried the mobile 2800. No doubt it runs cooler and overclock slightly higher (due to lack of IHS). However, you are going to have problems with many mobos. There isn't a single mobo that could work well with the mobile, hardly anyone overclocks well.

I have emailed Epox and the official answer is NO and there are no plans to do so. Dear sir About the Bios support Mobil CPU for 8KDA3J at this time e have not plan to do,because both kinds CPU need different range voltage to work .so even though the Mobil CPU can work ,We do not...

MSI K8N Neo Platinum Overclocking Guide + Mobile A64

It silly, but remember some pple could not even get their FSB over 230MHz? I couldn't get mine over initially. With some tweaking, I hit a brick wall @ 250MHz. It may be the board, it may bot be. The purpose is to determine if it is or isn't. If the person could get to his desired FSB using the...
