I've got my ep35-ds3r rev 2.1. It is not problem free as I still have one tiny issue that even their tech support can't solve. But does not hinder performance and I love it.
my rig is at 3.2ghz
ram is at 960mhz
8x400 for my multi and fsb.
my story is very similar to yours. For 3.0ghz, I think I had to run 1.36v for a stable OC. But when I looked for 3.2ghz, 1.46v was the only voltage that gave me stability. it sux, but then again my temperatures are so good...
I had the same problem as you with my q6600. I had to push my voltage up to 1.468v and with vdrop it show as 1.42v in windows. That was a higher than expected voltage for me since I read all these people achieving 3.2ghz at lower voltages. But my temperatures are really good due to some...
I could not get a stable overclock of my q6600 at 3.2ghz until I hit 1.46v in my bios. CPU-z has it at 1.42. Mine is go stepping too but I think I just have a processor that just needs the extra juice
bleh....so as far as I can tell my S3 standby mode thing does not work if I keep my computer suspended for a long period of time (like an hour or so) If its within minutes of standby, it turns back on. Weird.
Yo toadeater, looking for the legacy usb detect in bios and I'm not sure what it...
I just flashed my ep35-ds3r to the F3 bios and it didn't help me much. My windows "standby" issues still exists when my rig is overclocked. Just keeps doing the infinite loop of on/off/on/off/on/off.....
I will say that dpc latency issues are much improved according to the latency checker...
I have the same problem on my gigabyte ep35-ds3r board. Actually, it only became a problem when I overclocked my q6600. At stock processor settings, the computer goes in and out of sleep mode just fine. Is your computer OC'd?
I asked this question before and it seems like its an uncommon...
I think if you're keeping everything at stock (no OC) you'll be fine. Most issues seem to stem from people who are trying to overclock and that won't apply to you.
yeah, toadeater...I'm going through those threads now and see if it can be helped. Thanks for compiling all that. Mucho helpful.
I have this exact board and did a q6600 build a few weeks back. I've overclocked this guy to 3.2ghz and everything is singing except for a cold boot type issue.
When the computer is off it will boot fine and no problems with the bios losing/forgetting my OC. But whenever I put my OC'd...
graysky: My lack of understanding was not from the quality of your written piece. Its actually written in a clear, concise manner. You had prefaced it in your guide, but its really the different terminology. My gigabyte mobo does seem to have different words floating around so its just...
thanks mango. Kind of a bummer after reading that thread but I can live with it. Everything else works great and the OC was super easy so I'll take what I've got :)
virtuallarry: well that kinda sucks but I can live with it if thats the case.
short: I'm not sure what the bios is but it has to be pretty recent since I the most recent revision to this board (2.1). I'm a little hesitant of doing anything with bios since no standby mode is not a deal...
Let me preface this by saying I'm a newb with overclocking. I've read graysky's guide maybe 10x now and am getting a better understanding though still not yet a complete one.
My issue is that my OC'd rig can go into standby mode in windows xp, but does not come back from its slumber. The...
WOW, thank you graysky for this awesome post. I've got at q6600 on a ep35-ds3r running at 3.0ghz. I've never done OC before and with your guide by my side I think I've got a good, stable, temp. acceptable OC. I still don't understand many parts of the guide (maybe I'm stupid?) but the basic...
