Hey guys, the problem seems to have been fixed. I ran System File Checker as a fellow said and it found a corrupted windows setup file and restored it and now everything seems to work fine.
Thanks for all your help.:)
Hey guys. My sister recently got an old computer running Windows 98SE and has a strange error on it that I am unsure of how to fix. The system seems to run fine but if you try changing the desktop themes, or the background color for windows under the display properties the system will freeze and...
Do people here think it might be worth it to upgrade to one of the 256MB mainstream (whether ATI 9600XT or NVIDIA 5700 Ultra) cards for upcoming games like Doom3 and Half-Life 2? Is the extra RAM only useful at very high resolutions (1600X1200) with AA and AF on, or can it actually help in just...
Saw over at the inquirer.com that nVidia is readying a new driver release for its FX line of cards. It will be named ForceWare 2.0 and may include an overclocking setup similar to the ATI Over Drive feature for the XT cards. And is supposed to give another boost to performance for the FX line of...

Depends on your card I think. On my 5800nu there is a difference in performance at least between the settings but it is not very large at any time. I generally keep it set to performance as there is a slight boost in speed and I see little to no loss in quality. However, I too have thought it a...
I own an Asus rev. 1.04 A7N8X Deluxe mobo. With the newest 1007 bios I can run my no-name DDR400 RAM at 200MHz speeds all day and the FSB at 200MHz using an unlocked Barton XP2500+ all day with no probs so long as they are not running in sync with one another. I get constant crashes when running...
While there is nothing wrong with what nVidia is doing, I think Goot's point is that this may sway people toward nVidia and away from ATI simply because they don't know any better and the game is saying you need, or "should have" a nVidia card. This is like 3dfx putting stickers on game boxes...
I have been reading that a new rev. of the nForce2 chipset is coming to add 7.1 audio support, native Serial ATA RAID and Gigabite Ethernet to the Athlon XP platform. Anyone else know something about this?
Who else thinks that nVidia's Dawn should be dressed up and sent to compete in the Miss Digital Worldpagent? I nominate her right now as North America's entry. Go to the site below to find out a little more on this strange but kinda neat idea.

I have the oppurtunity to switch my sapphire Radeon 9500 PRO with an nVidia FX 5800 (non-ultra). Do people here think this would be worth while or should I just stick with my 9500 PRO. Wouldn't the 5800 still be faster by a bit than my 9500 PRO?
I own an Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo and have recently moved to a SB Audigy 2 add-in card over the onboard sound offerred. I know that the onboard sound must be disabled in the bios but was wondering if the onboard MIDI I/O must also be disabled in bios. Is it used only for the onboard sound? As I...
Don't know how new this may be to some of you but here is a link to a massive video card round up.

Its interesting to see how well the 5800 and 5800 Ultra's do with the newest drivers from nVidia. They don't look so much like a mistake...
