I'm looking to spend ~$1500. OC options would be nice (one of the reasons i was looking at the Venice 3200+) Included in that budget are my storage and optical drives which i've already got selected, already got a case/psu

The very definition of raid-0 (other then just flat out more storage space) is performance. writing/read data (esp read) to/from 2 drives is definetely quicker then from 1 drive. best perf of course would be from hardware raid-0 as opposed to software.
