Replaced PSU, now case fan runs 100% - could I use a 4-pin to 3-pin adapter?

What would you guys do in my situation? I need to control two fans that have 4-pin power connectors. 1. 4-pin to 3-pin adapters + a fan controller / fan controllers? 2. two new fans with selectable speed (ex. Antec TriCool)? 3. two new fans with built-in thermistors (ex. Antec SmartCool)...

Replaced PSU, now case fan runs 100% - could I use a 4-pin to 3-pin adapter?

Ah, here's why: "Another great feature this PSU has is two (2) included connections specifically for the case fans (2 x 120mm) labeled 'Fan Only.' Using these connections instead of the other, normal, molex connections, will cause your case fans speed to be dependent on the case temperature...

Replaced PSU, now case fan runs 100% - could I use a 4-pin to 3-pin adapter?

The PSU fan isn't the issue, it's the rear exhaust case fan making all the noise. As far as I can tell, it was plugged in the same way on the old PSU, but before, it was software-controllable and running at lower RPM.

Replaced PSU, now case fan runs 100% - could I use a 4-pin to 3-pin adapter?

The fan itself (a stock Antec) has two 4-pin Molex connectors on the same run, one male, one female. It was plugged into a 4-pin Molex on the old PSU as well.

Replaced PSU, now case fan runs 100% - could I use a 4-pin to 3-pin adapter?

A fan-related question... The stock 380-watt Antec power supply in my parents' Antec Sonata case died, so I replaced it with a Corsair CMPSU-400CX. It works well, but the rear case fan is now spinning at 100% and cannot be controlled with applications like SpeedFan. The Antec PSU had a...

I asked about the Acer AL2216Wbd a while back. My grandparents' CRT just went out, so I decided to recommend the 2216 for them. It has arrived and we're now satisfied Acer customers. Thanks for the recommendation! I don't think I'd ditch my NEC 90GX2-BK 19" TN for the 2216, but it's a great...

    Free Schick Quattro Titanium Razor

I didn't get in on this deal, but I received my freebie a few years ago. It was so much better than the cheapies I'd been using that I've been buying replacement blades ever since. They're a little expensive, but they seem to last a long time, especially since I have such a patchy beard. ;)

Okay, follow-up question... Are there any negatives to running LCDs at higher refresh rates? I've seen significant image quality degradation in some CRTs when changing the refresh rate, for example higher refresh rates causing the screen to look blurry. Also, I've heard that a higher refresh...

Is there any point to refresh rates higher than 60 Hz with a LCD monitor? It seems like the slowness of the response time would swamp the frame rate increase...

I agree... LCDs are still at the point where people who are sensitive to ghosting will notice it in practically every non-CRT monitor. However, as a former CRT-lover, I believe that the positives of owning a LCD now outweigh the negatives, and I don't think I'd switch back except in rare cases...

xtknight, thanks for the response re: the Acer AL2216Wbd as best 20-22" monitor under $250. I'll probably go for it. :) Just to add my own mini-review... I've been 100% satisfied with the now-discontinued NEC 90GX2 19" standard width monitor I bought for $215 on clearance at Newegg last year...

I'm looking for a 20-22" monitor for $250- or less, mostly for business/casual (non-gaming) purposes. I've been eyeing the Acer AL2216Wbd, which appears to use a Chi-Mei TN panel. Are there any monitors in that size/price range that would top it?

You'll probably have to move up to 24" to see a proportional bump in resolution (1920x1200). Everything between 20-23" tends to use 1680x1050. For everyone else who's asking, the 20WMGX2 is officially dead, and there's no real replacement. Considering it was selling for something like $350 at...

I need a recommendation for a budget monitor, since the average prices for the best LCD monitors (mentioned in the first few posts) have dramatically increased. I guess everyone has $500+ to blow on a monitor these days. :P I'm looking for a 20-22" widescreen for $250 or less. I've been...

    It's Back Again!!! **** PC: Quake IV DVD version $9.90 @ gogamer.com ****

My guess is that Google Checkout wouldn't work because the price isn't $10 or more before shipping. In for one. Thanks op! We'll see if there are any caveats to this import version. ;)
