Ok, I am finally ready to upgrade my old P4 1.4 system
I am 95% gaming/5% web-browsing & e-mail. :)
I have no current plans to overclock.
Prices below I've found are approximate, taken from Pricewatch.com:
AMD A64 3200+ CPU / MSI K8T Neo2-F Motherboard (939) -- $305
WD 74gb SATA 10K...
So is there really much difference?
I see various brand SATA 7200 RPM drives for sale on various sites, and they're obviously cheaper than the WD Raptor 10k drives...
Is there really a big difference in load times?
Are the Raptors "worth" the extra cost?
I will be doing 90% gaming...
Thanks to the recommendations from folks here, I got up at 5:00 am and made it to my CompUSA at about 5:15.
There was already about 100 people in line, and by the time the doors opened at 6, there was easily 4 times that!
I got to the counter behind which they lock up the "expensive" stuff...
Wow, thanks for all the responses, folks! :)
6800NU for $200? Is that the "Black Friday" deal at CompUSA I've seen in the forum? I just don't want to go to the wrong place. ;)
Thanks all! :)
Tim
So I have about $200 to spend on a new card. :)
I currently have a Radeon 9500.
For the $150-$200 range, I see the following cards that make me wonder...
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256
ATI Radeon X700 Pro 256
GeForce 6600 GT 128
Should I choose one of the above cards, or is there...
