    Advice on dual monitor rig

I've read so many different things but I tend to think what your are saying seems correct. That being said I'm still thinking about choosing a mobo with 4 memory slots so I can use 2 1GB sticks and 2 512MB sticks to make 3GB. I've read so many different things about once you break the maximum...

    Advice on dual monitor rig

After doing some reading I'm going to go with a discrete video card (8600GT that is dual DVI capable) as well as a different motherboard (GA-M61SME-S2). I also now realize going beyond 2GB of RAM with 32-bit Win XP is really a waste, so I'll also cut back there. Thanks for the power supply input.

    Advice on dual monitor rig

Hello everyone, I'm building a dual monitor rig and would appreciate some advice. The purpose of this rig is to run dual monitors while playing online poker. I have ZERO interest in using the computer for gaming since I'm satisfied with GoW and CoD4 on my xbox 360 when I'm unwinding after...

    Opinions on dual monitor build

Yes, if I decide to go with a 1920x1200 resolution capable LCD I'm looking to purchase the LG L246WP-BN. The monitor is at my local Best Buy on clearance for $479.99 compared to $629.99 at NewEgg. Yes it is new in box and not a display model. Also according to the salesperson today I spoke...

    Opinions on dual monitor build

Dadofamunky, Thanks for the quick response. Yes I'm planning on using two video ports at once, to be able to use two monitors at once. I looked at the manual for the Gigabyte board and according to it the Surround Feature enables the usage of dual monitors. Though the DVI-D port is just...

    Opinions on dual monitor build

Hello, I'm looking to build a budget system for a dual monitor rig. The purpose of this system is primarily to play online poker. I do some very light video editing light photoshop work but no games will be played on this rig. I have an xbox360 and this is just fine for games. Anyhow...

HP NC8430 - getting full display brightness on battery power?

I'm not an expert but the HP DV5000T that I have does the same thing as does my compaq. I just increase the brightness using the fn+f8 key (fucntion plus F8 key). Works for me.

    Questions about laptop RAM

Definitely newegg the additional memory. This might be a dumb question but I know the original author was upgrading his 1gb (2 sticks) with 2 gb (also 2 sticks). I'm planning on purchasing the minimum memory from dell (1 stick 512mb) and just adding in a 1GB stick to bring the total to 1.5GB...

E1505, is upgraded graphics card really needed?

No I don't want to play COD2 on the notebook. I originally ordered the DV5000T with the geforce go 7400 thinking that going with a graphics card versus the integrated option would reduce the load on the cpu's during normal non-gaming applications. I don't notice any difference in 2d apps on...

E1505, is upgraded graphics card really needed?

That was kind of my thoughts. I did try out Call Of Duty 2 Demo on the HP DV5000T with geforce go 7400 just to see where it was at. It was pretty disappointing and would definately NOT be worthwhile to game with. It is my plan to sell the notebook down the road, within 12-24 months, while it...

E1505, is upgraded graphics card really needed?

A few weeks ago I was trying to decide which product to purchase, the HP DV5000T or Dell E1505. After reading through this forum and others I settled on the HP DV5000T. I configured it with duo core T2400 1.83ghz, 15.4" WXGA brightview, 128MB nvidia geforce go 7400, 1GB DDR2, 80GB 5400 RPM...

My core duo is stinking up on games!

I know the author of this thread mentioned that he has the integrated 950 video option and someone mentioned he should have upgraded to the radeon x1400 if he cared about gaming at all. The notebook I'm considering doesn't have the option for radeon x1400 but instead a 128MB nvidia geforce go...

Questions about duo core and dv5000t

That is what I thought more or less. Actually I've been trying to split hairs over $30-$75 in price and for no reason. I want this to be on the edge of what I can afford with some room for the future. I'm looking at the hp dv5000t with dT2400 duo core 1.83 ghz, 1 gb ram, 128mb nvidia geforce...

Questions about duo core and dv5000t

I'm looking to purchase a new notebook computer and have been looking at the duo core processor capable units. I understand the hp dv5000t is not a gaming notebook which is fine. I might run some demos of things here and there so I'm planning on selected the 128MB geforce go 7400 at time sale...
