Just to be sure, but you dropped your ht multi right? If not, you are at 290*5=1450. You should keep it below 1000, so use the 3 multi.

Go for a sempron with 256 KB cache, like the 3100+. Should be better for gaming. Nvidia is better in doom 3, then again i dont know how that holds up when involving price/performance. The x800GT/GTO seem nice midrange cards.

Try installing bios 1.6 or 1.3 Those were the best so far. Bios 1.4 and 1.5 also gave me the 5 multiplyer problem. Havent tryed 1.7 or 1.8 because they seem to be buggy. Sometimes enabling cool'n quiet in the bios actually disables it and solves this problem.
