At 1.54 V you are probably pushing what the stock cooler can handle. I should have asked the load temps, i'm guessing about 50°C (try speedfan).
How stable is superpi 32M and prime95? If everything else is stable and you are happy with the oc, leave it as is. If you want to get higher or...
When the proc is at its limits the memcontroller can start acting up. That not all dividers work isnt that strange for msi. Also the latest bios isnt always the best one for overclocking. Have you tried bumping the mem voltage? Be sure that you know what your mem can handle though.
What are...
Get cpu-z to see the speeds.
Find your max htt. Drop cpu multi and mem divider so that they dont run above stock speeds, and start raising the htt.
Do the same for ram speed en cpu speed. Find the max values when the other two are below or at stock speeds.
Now you'll know what limits your...
Go for a sempron with 256 KB cache, like the 3100+. Should be better for gaming.
Nvidia is better in doom 3, then again i dont know how that holds up when involving price/performance. The x800GT/GTO seem nice midrange cards.
Get cpu-z to see your real memspeeds, if you dont have it already. Dont trust the bootscreen.
The htt multi does very little for performance, just keep it below 1000.
1.595 V is quite alot for this speed. My winchester does 2563 at 1.5 V. Dont use more V than what you need for stability...
When running the cpu at its max the mem controller sometimes suffers. You might not be able to get your highest mem overclock when maxing out the cpu. Some boards just dont like some mem dividers, and passing memtest doesnt always mean it'll run windows.
Value sticks arent the best oc'ers and...
If this number crunching is affected by dual channel memory, bigger L2 cache, and higher clockspeed, it might be worth it to get the cheapest venice and overclock it.
If you plan on oc'ing your ram i would pick the 3200. You will need the higher fsb speeds to get to high to high ddr speed. At 11 x 236 = 2596 MHz you will get to ddr 472. At 10 x 260 = 2600 MHz you get ddr 520. There's no sense to paying for an 11 multi and then running at a 10 multi. I dont...
Try installing bios 1.6 or 1.3 Those were the best so far. Bios 1.4 and 1.5 also gave me the 5 multiplyer problem. Havent tryed 1.7 or 1.8 because they seem to be buggy. Sometimes enabling cool'n quiet in the bios actually disables it and solves this problem.
Here are some boards with 8 sata ports:
