I have attempted both now. All plugs and connectors have been cleaned up properly and I have tried running the PC with a different GPU but I do not have a power supply to try. Also I am running the system in RAID0 configuration so am unable to unplug the HDs. So far, no luck.

Yeah, FWD are probably safer, but it depends on how good a driver you are. If you're good, RWD is by far the way to go, as you can control the car far better. As for "spinning out", with todays traction control systems etc that's not much of an issue, (unless you have like, 300hp with no TC on...
