RAID help!!!!!!!!!

The number of programs that don't capture video FAR exceed those that do and the number of people who actually capture and edit video is very, very small. Yes, RAID can offer some performance benefits. In most situations it doesn't. Obviously you don't grasp the concept of 99.9%. It's not...

    RAID help!!!!!!!!!

And how many people really edit media enough to take advantage of RAID? Very few.

    RAID0 vs. Raptor

That's just as fast if not SLOWER than a single Raptor.

    RAID help!!!!!!!!!

RAID 0 is worthless for 99.9% of applications. If anything you should RAID 1, or better yet don't use RAID at all.

So my friend's cousin want's me to build him a video editing machine...

When you have $10K to spend you can probably buy a lot more than a lowly dual Opteron workstation.

How to Delete hidden partion from Gateway hard disk

Drive manufacturers list their drive size using 1,000B = 1KB, 1,000KB = 1MB, etc. Windows uses a slightly different way of calculating size, 1,024B = 1KB, 1,024KB = 1MB, etc. This leads to those kinds of discrepancies. So your 10.2GB HDD really is 9.5GB. There is no hidden partition.

Maybe he can travel through time?

So if games process sound themselves, does it matter what kind of sound card I have?

Yeah, I just saw that now. I've never noticed a difference, but I haven't done intensive benchmarking specifically looking for differences. If there is a performance hit, it's not noticeable.

So if games process sound themselves, does it matter what kind of sound card I have?

I've always found that quality speakers and headphones will make a FARRRRRRR greater difference than a sound card. However, if you're upgrading and still have money to blow it might be something worth getting (it's just near the bottom of the list of things to get). EDIT: I have a SB Live...

    Raptor or 7,200rpm

You want a raptor. If you're just going to be gaming and not downloading tons of stuff then 74GB will last you a long time.

    ZipZoomFly: Yay or Nay?

I ordered a motherboard from ZZF and it didn't work (either an BIOS didn't like my 90nm CPU or the motherboard was defective). I sent it Monday morning and it arrived there very early Wednesday. So far they haven't sent anything back yet, but I have no idea how busy they are with RMAs.

Q: WD Raptor Vs. Non-Raptor 7200 SATA Drives

LOL, I thought I read RAID in there somewhere. I was just having a discussion about RAID with someone and I saw that and I dunno.

http://www.anandtech.com/stora...c.aspx?i=2101&p=10 - Shows RAID offers no benefit for gaming.
