I guess Asus' thermal sensor just doesn't work properly, then.. 51C temperature under load isn't that bad, so it'll do.

Hmm.. I tried to to measure temperatures with Core Temp and it says that temperature under load is 51C and when 35C when idling.. Which one I should trust more?

Hmm.. my motherboard sensor says my Core 2 E6600 (with stock heatsink) is 62C under load and 48C idle, but Core temp says 50C under load and 35C idle. Which one I should trust more? Oh, and if Core temp numbers are more accurate, are they ok with stock heatsink?

Im using Asus PC probe to read the temps. Anyway, should the temps really be that high, I mean Core 2 should be power-efficient.

I did spread it using a finger and plastic bag. Btw, what size a BB sized dot is? Also, heatsink doesn't feel hot at all when I touch it.

I have currently an Athlon XP 2500+, 1 gig of memory and R9800 Pro.

Inquirer says that quad core parts are coming in mid-November and that there's also a 2.4GHz model coming.. http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=34863 Though I have no intention of buying a CPU that costs a lot more than 300$, so I have no interest in Extreme editions.

I read from the Inquirer that soon Intel will release quad core parts. So how much real life performance improvements they will provide? And do you think it is worth it to wait for them or buy a Conroe now?
