    Internet Security

Ones ability to protect against a DDoS is largely dependant on what resources they have available, and what they are capable of. There can be any number of limiting factors like: - What kind of connection was his business running on? A small connection (Broadband, T1, etc) would have almost...

    CCNA home lab recommendation

The 1900 would NOT be sufficient, it runs a variant of IOS that was kind of inhereted by Cisco when they bought Kalpana. The 2900, though EOL'd, would be an an acceptable switch. I would recommend a 2600 router though over a 2500, due to some future feature abilities. Only other thing I can...

Transferred hosting companies and now no e-mail

Well there could be any of a couple things wrong... >1. I setup e-mail addresses at the new hosting company What did you do to set this up? just account/users, or new domain, etc.. What kind of hosting are you doing? shared/virtual, dedicated ? >2. Then I updated the DNS...

    Net Zero 3G

While dial up sucks, it's come a long way.. For services like 3G and AOL, that know some people have to use dialup they make the most of it with: Web Proxy/Cache of HTML and images, compression, etc.. This doesn't help much for people that stream media (audio or video)

DI-624+ and DSL-G604T on the same subnetwork

Being that both of these have 4 port switches on it you can do it (wired). Unless you want to connect them wirelessly then they would need to be able to bridge (which I don't think both of them do). Description: WAN/DSL connection -> DSL-604T (connected to the WAN port) DSL-604T (one...

No internet using two network cards

This could largely depend.. if you are doing DNS and DHCP on the inside, I would check the following.. 1) what is the default route? I'm guessing your WAN side of the server is a static and public IP, and you have a gateway to point to your provider.. likewise on the LAN side is DHCP also...

Home or Business Gigabit Ethernet Speeds -

We have fairly easly pushed 800+Mbps speeds (much more than that on Ethernet and you will start having loss) through Cisco Catalyst 3550, 3560, and 3750's. This was with Dell 2650/2850 and 6650/6850's though.. Devistater is correct though.. most transfer rates are reported in MB (Bytes)...

    Cisco's VTP: VLAN Trunking Protocol

If VTP works for your type of setup, and you won't be using so many VLANs that you don't want populated to all switches.. then I say use it.. Pick you central switches to be the server(s) and absolutely set a password.. You can avoid the problems the skeptics have.

    Cisco PIX Question

I on the other hand find many uses for object groups.. and they can be organized to be as clean or better than just straight ACLs Yours: access-list outside_access line 3 deny tcp any any Tecent access-list outside_access line 3 deny udp any any Tecent Obviously specifying the line...

    Gonna try out Networking...

There is a lot of CCNA material online, braindumps, books, Cisco's site, Network fundamentals pages.. all free The CCNA is a really easy fundamentals test, however it has a high percentage requirement for passing.. so it requires a higher comprehension of the material than CCNP. I have some...

    Business network: 2 Gateways

Did you colapse the both of these internal networks into one? So that you can route to either gateway from a single NIC, thus not requiring a NIC on each separate network? If the linksys allows you to place static routes on it then you could just put the 10.0.0.0/8 route on the linksys...

New Dell Gigabit Can't Communicate over Network?

Though this is resolved.. Cat5 will not (or should not) down throttle a connection negotiation to 100Mb. It will negotiate fine at 1000Mb however typical Cat5 will typically be limited to 250Mhz (or Mb).

haha, Masters.. slow down.. he is finishing up high school Opinion: School good idea for some, though the guys I have hired right out of school just barely have fundementals, so little content is spread across so much time that no one thing is learned real well. I have seen schools that...
