The GTX 280 covers 4 of 6 sata slots on my motherboard. I believe the easiest solution would be to get two right angled plugs and two left angled plugs. Four right angled plugs will not work as they will overlap each other.
I just ordered two left angled 36" SATA cables from here.
Yeah nice that you could return it. I've had this board for close to a year. Replacing the board would not only cost me an upwards of $200 but would be a major PITA.
I was looking at left angled SATA connectors. These might solve the problem because they would not overlap. The only worry...
I just bought a GTX280 and this massive card extends across my sata ports on my motherboard when it's plugged into the x16 pci-e slot. I am currently using 6 of 6 SATA slots for a RAID 5 so moving the SATA cables is out of the question. I currently have the GTX 280 in a pci-e x4 slot which I...
Sure, I have stocks in blackboard inc., intel corp., and western digital corp. All of which have returned decent gains despite the recent downturns in the market.
I'd take it to 1.5V @ 3.2ghz. So if it dies in 5 years instead of ten, will it really matter? Not for me, I would've gone through two new builds in that time. In the meantime that 200mhz give you a small but enjoyable increase in performance. Now 1.65v would be too much in my opinion, unless you...
This is your best option OP. Slipstream the drivers into a win xp installation cd using Nlite. Having personally used this method, I can say it works perfectly without a floppy drive. Google 'nlite nvraid slipstream windows xp cd'.
Yep the two smaller IC's get the hottest. I have seen pics over on the extreme forums where overvolted, no heatsink, bare IC's, actually melted on to the circuit board.
A few words of advice: Do not overvolt the memory.
I fried a card this way. My gt was at 750/1950 with 1.55v on core and 2.2 on mem. I had 2 copper heatsinks and a 60mm fan blowing on the those small chips that regulate the voltage by the shaded resistor. My memory fried with less than 2...
I don't know about the VF1plus as I haven't seen any in stock. Besides that the Thermalright v1 Ultra is the best air cooling you can buy although one of the most expensive and not the quietest. Keeps my 7900gt volt modded with 1.5V at 700/1600 under 60c.
I had to use different mounting screws to get it mount properly on the DFI. I used longer ones than the ones supplied. Additionally I had to use flat washers because my screw was a bit too long. I also used the springs provided in the box. I would recommend you buy a steel backplate for this...
The Raptor is fast on its own, but if you are thinking of buying two for faster performance, RAID 0 is negligible. Go RAID 0 if you want to double your storage (148gb @ 10000rpm), not for faster performance.

For $110 more, you could get a 200gb hdd, a dvd burner, an AMD64 3500+, and a computer that will grow with you when you decide to put it to more intensive tasks
Horizontally stretching is not used too much. The panel seperating the two monitors is so annoying that I have never grown accustomed to it. Dual monitors are more for having multiple windows open. If you want widescreen, a 2005fpw would be a better choice than two 19" lcd's.
