The red error occurs when you're missing content. If you're sure it's happening on stock servers try to verify your game cache.
From Steam games tab, right click on team fortress 2 and select properties, then select the local files tab, then press the "Verify integrity of game cache..." button.
I used to have this problem, vista 64 sp1. I haven't noticed it lately. It could be because I added -novid to the launch options to stop the intro movies.
Looks like they've changed it. I checked my account and my SWAT4 gold purchased in april 06 is still available for download. I know when I bought it there was a 90 day limit on downloads.
You only get to download them for a certain period of time. The game itself doesn't expire. So if you make a backup of the installation file, you should be ok. Obviously Steam is better, with it's unlimited downloads. As far as patches go, both Steam and D2D typically lag behind retail.
Rivatuner comes with a signed driver for Vista x64. When you install Rivatuner, it'll ask if you want to update, select yes and it'll install the signed Vista x64 driver.
As JackMDS stated, the wireless router will also have ports for wired connections. So your 2 current computers will be able to connect to the new wireless router just like they did to the old wired router.

If you get the PS3 with built in wifi, which should be any PS3 except the discontinued 20GB version, then you could just replace your wired router with a wireless router.
