    2005FPW vs. 2405FPW - 2005FPW wins.

The "red sheen" that people are mentioning on the 2005fpw is a characteristic of the S-IPS panel. When viewed from an angle, black areas will have a purple sheen to them. All 2005fpw's will be the same. I'm not too familiar with the 2405fpw, but if it uses a PVA panel, then it will not have this...

Dell 1905FP uses different panels... - Online inventory here -

I just recieved a Rev A01 with the Samsung panel (LTM190E4-L02) V017. I put it side-by-side with a Rev A00 with Samsung panel V016. Both are made in China. Both were purchased in the US within the last month. I can not tell any difference at all between these two. Image quality (very good) and...

Can you also tell us the Rev of your monitor? I don't know if it's printed on the monitor, but it is on the box. Should be something like A00, A01, or perhaps they've gone to something like A02 for the AUO panel.

Cool, thanks for the info. The AUO panel is MVA rather than the Samsung PVA, but I presume the image quality is similar. The response time should be quite different though, since the Samsung is rated at 20ms and the AUO at 8ms. Can you please give us your impressions, particularly regarding...

It's nearing time to make a 19" LCD decision

    What does this comment mean?

AT Dell vs Apple 20" LCD review

Yes you do need to update the .inf for the monitor (from the CD or Windows Update), but that may not be sufficient depending on your video card. In my case (old card) I also had to manually enable the native resolution using Powerstrip.

AT Dell vs Apple 20" LCD review

The 2005fpw has a cool feature that allows you to eliminate stretching/scaling. In the menu there is a "1:1" setting which allows images to be displayed in native resolution as long as they fit on the screen. For example, you can display 1280x1024 at 1:1, which gives tiny black bars along...

    Dell 1905fp or 2005fp for non-gamer?

Ok, I received the 2005fpw. Here are my impressions vs the 1905. For the record, these observations are made with the monitors at default settings except brightness was reduced to 75%. Both monitors were tested with analog input (all I have available at the moment). Frankly I don't think DVI...

It's nearing time to make a 19" LCD decision

Do not buy the 1905fp is you intend to play games. I have one, and it is beautiful for static images, but moving images blur like crazy. I don't even play games, but I get blurring and color shifting even when simply scrolling a document or web page. It bothered me enough that I bought the...

AT Dell vs Apple 20" LCD review

Regarding the 1680x1050 resolution, you should be able to display it on almost any video card. I currently only have an old Riva TNT2 and it drives this monitor fine. The driver did not provide the native resolution by default, but I was able to add it using Powerstrip...

New cards worth it in a 4x agp system?

keeleysam, Are you saying that the GeForce 6200 is slower than the Radeon 9600? I didn't think that was the case. To the original poster it seems that for the AGP versions of the cards, the 6600 doesn't cost much more than the 6200. The pricing is quite different than for the PCI-E versions...

    Dell 1905fp or 2005fp for non-gamer?

Thanks for the comments. I don't expect to be watching any significant amount of movies. I'd rather watch them in the living room. The 2001fp is not in the running for me because it cost more than the 2005fpw. It is also an older design and consumes more power. I ordered the 2005fpw during...

    Dell 1905fp or 2005fp for non-gamer?

I know these two monitors are quite different animals, but I'm trying to decide between them. The 2005fpw will cost me about $70 more than the 1905fp. My primary applications are web surfing, office documents, desktop publishing, programming, and some video and photo editing. I don't do much...

Owners of the Dell 2001fp...quick question...
