Im building a computer for a friend of mine. I got some things off of newegg, including a chaintech motherboard and a 160GB maxtor drive (I wanted to keep things cheap). I can install Windows XP Home booting from CD. It recognizes the drive and everything and everything is stored alright...

Yeah... I've done that for sure. "Digital out only" was selected. You're SURE it has nothing to do with the cable? It's a basic 2 pin one- stereo, that turns into two RCA jacks- one red, one white... you know?

But when I use the digital out thing, I get static on my speakers and I have no overall sound from anything running. Any suggestions?

Seriously? I wouldn't put it through the digital out, right? It would just go out the normal green one... Thanks for your help :)

I just got a new Sound Blaster Audigy LS that I hope to use with what is becoming our media PC. There is a digital out jack on the back (you know- that yellow one?) that seems to be used for surround sound. In my stereo, we have a dolby surround sound decoder. So, I followed these instructions...

Well I got it working! I guess to detect the Samsung as a widescreen monitor, the screen needed to be set to Wide (PC) and nothing else. I had originally had it set to regular (PC) so it wouldn't stretch, but looks like this fixed the problem. However, I'm a bit worried about downloading...
