Creative audio cards - shady business model?

I would do a search on the guys handle from the creative forum.... should eventually pull up some links. According to his letter the crystallizer is in fact 100% SOFTWARE based - he said he even got it to work on non creative cards so you shouldn't have any problem on sblive 5.1 if you manage...

Also this article from X-bit labs on the matter is also interesting http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/m...ows_Vista_Drivers.html

Creative audio cards - shady business model?

It enables WAY more than that... read this letter from the guy who modded the drivers: http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/...4/daniel_k-who-fi.html

Creative audio cards - shady business model?

So you are saying even though *the actual box* SAYS it has these features and even has a sticker ON THE BOX saying "Vista compatible" it is OK for the drivers to intentionally be written to break Vista compaitiblity and disable the features Creative advertises it supports? Features that people...

Creative audio cards - shady business model?

I think the point is, however, that they wouldn't WANT his code. If you read through his response letter he says that he found evidence they actually WROTE CODE to DISABLE features intentionally. The fact is creative has been intentionally disabling features on vista drivers in order to force...

Creative audio cards - shady business model?

Is anyone else reading all the tech news site articles about creative labs demanding that a person who released working drivers for Creative cards under Vista stop at once? I am honestly surprised at the amount of outrage over this.... just because I am surprised people are just figuring this...

    Best Hard Drive brand?

I am surprised no one has mentioned Samsung. The Samsung F1 is faster than all other 7200rpm drives right now in virtually all respects. Also if you read comments about it on Newegg and other sites you see MUCH fewer negative comments about drive failures vs positive comments compared to the...

What's the best way to speed up the hdd?

Advantages are seek times basically don't exist anymore. SSD destroys the raptor on seek times. No risk of mechanical failure. Using the SSD as the primary drive also will cut the work load on the mechanical drive(s) which in turn increases that drives life span. At this point in...

What's the best way to speed up the hdd?

Great job picking the highest capacity (and thus highest cost) SSD drive. Newegg currently has SSD drives starting around $250.

Get an SSD drive. Two years from now mechanical drives will be a joke.

    Never shop at wal-mart

Just so you guys know I called my brother and he is 99% sure he put $30 on it.

    Never shop at wal-mart

Whatever all I can say is that if I was the cashier I would have just credited $10 for good customer service.

    Never shop at wal-mart

The point is $10 is nothing to a company like wal-mart. Why lose a customer over $10? I left a basket full of stuff for them to take back to the floor. I had my debit card IN HAND ready to pay after they credited me my $10. They lost more money than they saved.

    Never shop at wal-mart

My brother wrote $30 on the card he sent. And no, he doesn't play jokes like that.

    Never shop at wal-mart

Look I don't want everyone to think I'm an ass I just don't think they handled the situation well and I didn't want to let them screw me out of my money. I normally am not like that to retail workers, but normally they are respectful.
