I've been out of it here at this forum, but man... seeing a prototype graphic card like that makes me scared... imagine the loudness of the fan, or better yet imagine all the strain a video card that big will put on your pcie slot and mobo in general... geez... I hope the 8600GT or whatever are...

15fps is ridonkulously bad man... Just get the 7800GS since your outlook for upgrading is in about 2 years. Conroe prices would have gone down by then as well as mobos, vid cards, etc. Also, I take it you're not the person to want to splurge so much money to get the best when it comes out...

this seems to be a reoccuring problem with MSI 6600GT cards... all I can say is "BAD MSI! BAD!" for not issuing fine quality control standards.

Go with the 6800nu as mentioned above. SM3, decent core & mem speeds, it'll last you till you upgrade later in the year. I got a 6800 and unlocked the extra 4 pipes and pixel shader and it increased my framerates marginally.

It was a driver issue. I had the same problem with the 61.72 drivers but updated to 81.98s and the problem disappeared.
