All this hoo-haw about this dude getting fined or thrown into jail is, well, hoo-haw. C'mon, he'll most likely never hear anything from anyone about it ever again. And if he does get a bill in a few weeks for storage charges he can just call them up and tell them he already took care of this...

NM, I got it working again. If anyone else runs into this, just roll back your IDE driver (in XP anyway) - it worked for me.
