    Athlon 64 3200+ Low 3DMark CPU Score

I don't really know what's going on with the 3DMark score, but I did manage to improve it a bit by closing down normal applications after I rebooted. I also disabled "File System Realtime Scan" on Norton, which I think had the biggest effect. On my older computer I turned it off to increase...

    Athlon 64 3200+ Low 3DMark CPU Score

I didn't know that the sound test contributes to the CPU score...I guess that would pretty much explain why my score is lower than 650. I have a SB 5.1 Live in my older computer that I could use in the future if I need the extra performance, but right now I am content with my configuration...

    Athlon 64 3200+ Low 3DMark CPU Score

I understand the arguments you bring in; the timings probably do affect results slightly, but the number I was getting for CPUMark is well below what it should be. I'm not sure if this has to do with my graphics card, since I suspect that even though it is supposed to be a CPU score the 9800...

    Athlon 64 3200+ Low 3DMark CPU Score

I currently have a Newcastle Athlon 64 3200+ (2.2 GHz, 512 KB L2) with an Asus K8V SE Deluxe. I've been running benchmarks exclusively these past couple of days and, although my system wasn't configured with the best of everything, I believe I should be getting better scores than I have been...

AMD Athlon 64 Price Drop Soon?

Well, even though the Athlon 64 chips are 64-bit, they are still AMD's highest performance chips, and thus compete with Intel's P4s. I think that if Intel releases a 3.6 GHz chip and drops their prices next week, AMD will end up doing the same. I'll have to keep an eye on newegg.com if they do...

what amd mobile cpu is compared wtih a pentium m mobile 2.0GHz w/2mb L2 cache?

Good question...considering the Pentium M is designed similar to the new AMD Athlon/Sempron chips, I wonder how the two chips compare. Has anyone performed benchmarks between the two?

    64bit, really all that?

Hyperthreading is only around because Intel was using such a large pipeline (20 and now 30) and there were so many wasted cycles as a result. The Athlon 64 does not need such a feature because it was designed from the start to be extremely efficient, thus explaining why a 2.4 GHz Athlon 64...

AMD Athlon 64 Price Drop Soon?

The more and more I look at price history at http://www.sharkextreme.com the more uncomfortable I feel about buying a 3000+ or 3200+ Athlon 64. I've been waiting for quite a while already and have the parts pretty much pieced together, but I feel that I should wait a week or two for Intel to...
